General Motors today announced $1.6 billion in additional costs as it adjusts its electric vehicle output. GM sold a record number of EVs in the third quarter, second only to Tesla in overall U.S. EV sales. But it’s expecting a downturn with the tax credits gone, and without fuel economy penalties, it’s no longer under the gun to keep growing its EV business. On paper, General Motors should be the envy of the American automotive industry. It now sells more electric vehicles across more segments and price points than any other manufacturer, from luxury pickup trucks to, soon, the sub-$30,000…
Tesla has finally delivered on the demand of many electric car shoppers by unveiling entry-level versions of the refreshed Model Y and Model 3. As many expected, there isn’t an all-new car, but rather more stripped-back configurations of the existing models that lower the entry price, making it easier for more buyers to step into Tesla ownership. This is long overdue. As someone who’s spent plenty of time behind the wheel of both cars, I see this as a move that could significantly increase Tesla ownership. While the EVs have been appealing, the price has remained a sticking point. The idea is simple: Make the same design and…
Onvo is expected to reach its 100,000th vehicle delivery this weekend, bringing its total deliveries this month to 9,721 units. As of the end of September, Onvo had cumulatively delivered 90,279 vehicles, including 68,707 L60s and 21,572 L90s. (Image credit: Onvo) Onvo today witnessed the rollout of its 100,000th mass-produced vehicle, marking a milestone for the sub-brand of Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO). The brand announced the milestone on its mobile app today, saying that the 100,000th Onvo vehicle is expected to be delivered this weekend. This would bring Onvo’s deliveries this month to about 9,721 units, considering the brand had…
You won’t want to go any distance in the B10 unless you turn the ADAS functions off. Driving with them on is like travelling with a malicious poltergeist on board. The steering wheel is tugged around when you’re nowhere near white lines, yellow lines, or indeed any lines at all. It beeps at everything: a change in speed limit, breaking the speed limit, no speed limit, some speed limit, not enough coffee in the driver, too much coffee in the driver, glancing at the touchscreen, bad breath, unfashionable clothes, poor conversational skills… I’m quite sure there are more.Of course, Leapmotor is not…
Ford is cutting prices on the electric pickup by up to $4,000 to offset the loss of the federal EV tax credit. The 2026 Ford F-150 Lightning now offers more driving range at a lower price. 2026 Ford F-150 Lightning prices and range by trim After the Tesla Cybertruck took the title as America’s best-selling electric pickup last year, the Ford F-150 Lightning is back on top in 2025. Ford sold over 10,000 Lightnings in the third quarter, nearly double the roughly 5,400 Tesla Cybertrucks sold. Through September, Ford has sold over 23,000 electric pickups. According to Cox Automotive, Tesla…
Forget the classic look of two large headlights at each corner of the front end. Today’s cars see the world with new eyes: slim, sharp, and high on the bumper. LED daytime running lights (DRLs) have taken center stage visually, while the main headlights are now often hidden in the bumper, out of direct view, or seamlessly integrated into the bodywork. This “split headlight” design has become increasingly popular, with SUVs, sedans, and even some station wagons all sporting the look. Originally a clever solution to a technical problem, split headlights are now a defining style choice for many automakers.…
The Alfa Romeo Tonale has been updated with a more aggressive look and a series of mechanical changes that are claimed to make it a sportier proposition. Chief among the changes is a renewed range of engines designed to meet the latest Euro 6-bis emissions regulations. The entry-level turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine is boosted by 15bhp to 173bhp, thanks to an updated mild-hybrid system. The four-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid, meanwhile, is now offered with two different power outputs: 187bhp and 266bhp. The latter represents a slight downgrade from the current PHEV’s 276bhp. Alfa has yet to disclose whether the set-up’s electric range…
Many people will probably tell you to buy a car – that way, you can own it for as long as you’d like, then sell it when you’re done to make some money back. However, if you’re one of those people who would rather drive a new car every few years, and you don’t want to constantly think about resale value, then leasing might be the way to go. With that in mind, Subaru is offering lease deals for every model it currently sells. You can get into a brand-new Subaru for relatively cheap, whether you want a family SUV…
The biggest car news and reviews, no BS Our free daily newsletter sends the stories that really matter directly to you, every weekday. Something that never ceases to amaze me about endurance racing is how cars can run for six, 10 hours, 24 hours, and still be separated by mere seconds by the time they cross the checkered flag. Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta always manages to find a way to maintain that drama until the very end, and it did once again in 2025. The race was won by the No. 31 Action Express Cadillac V-Series, driven by…
Hyundai introduced the concept of simulated “shifting” in EVs. The riotous Ioniq 5 N simulates the soundtrack and shifting of the seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission version of the Elantra N. It sounds hare-brained, but it works. I love it. Ferrari, though, can’t just copy Hyundai. With its first EV, the upcoming Elettrica, it’s gotta move the ball forward. When I spoke to the company’s head of product development, he was clear about how the company was going to do that: With power levels, its own take on faux EV shifting. But it won’t be fake, and it won’t involve “gears.” Hyundai’s…
