The global automotive aftermarket is estimated to reach $2.65 trillion in 2026, according to the 2026 AAPEX Media Guide.
The U.S. aftermarket is forecast to reach $599.7 billion, including $457 billion for light-duty vehicles and $142.9 billion for heavy-duty vehicles.
The figures come from the Auto Care Association’s 2027 Auto Care Factbook and MEMA Aftermarket Suppliers’ 2026 Aftermarket Size & Forecast Report.
The guide also reports that 1.64 billion vehicles were in operation globally in 2025, while U.S. vehicles averaged 12.94 years of age. U.S. consumers delayed an estimated $30 billion in vehicle maintenance during the year, with vehicles 12 years and older accounting for $16.5 billion of the total.
Independent repair facilities accounted for 72 per cent of U.S. repair capacity in 2025, compared with 28 per cent for dealerships. Independent facilities recorded $312.7 billion in aggregate sales, compared with $121.4 billion at dealerships.
AAPEX is also introducing and expanding several features for its 2026 show, including iFlex presented by the Preventive Automotive Maintenance Association, which will bring the International Fast Lube Expo into the exhibit hall. The AAPEX Forum will also expand to include Accessories & Lighting and Undercar sections.
Joe’s Garage, which includes six operational service bays used for training and product demonstrations, is moving to Level 2 of The Venetian Expo. The show will also feature a student engine assembly competition, with about twice as many teams registered as last year.
The 2026 event is scheduled for Nov. 3-5 in Las Vegas. AAPEX typically attracts 40,000 to 45,000 buyers and about 2,500 exhibitors, with attendees from roughly 120 countries.
The show is held concurrently with the SEMA Show as part of Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week.
