Automotive Range Rover is wasting little time expanding its electric lineup. Following the arrival of the full-size Range Rover Electric, the 2028 Range Rover Sport Electric is preparing to bring the same battery-powered formula to a slightly smaller, more athletic package. Instead of dramatically reinventing the Sport, Range Rover appears to be sticking closely to what already makes the SUV appealing, adding serious electric performance while preserving its familiar combination of luxury, capability, and understated design. Power comes from a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup producing 542 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, drawing energy from a sizable 119-kWh battery…
Aston Martin’s DBX is already a refined and powerful crossover. In 2025, we declared that the DBX707 version removes any doubt about its luxury credentials and is as close to flawless as we can expect. Then came the 2026 DBX S, lightening the SUV and taking the power level to 717 horsepower (up from the DBX 707’s 696 horses). The only fault we could pick out is that the tailgate lifts a bit too slowly. Now, Aston Martin has announced the DBX GT, claiming it delivers the ultimate in luxury and refinement. The Focus Here Is Effortless, Refined Performance Aston…
The Drive 🤝 your inbox. Every weekday The Daily Brief wraps up the biggest stories and our exclusive reporting on the auto industry and car culture. Modern vehicles, like every other technology device we own, from smartphones to fridges and even dog collars, are connected to the internet 24/7. They learn from us, know things about us, and most of the time use that information to make our lives easier. Cars, specifically, collect vital driving and behavior data that is borderline impossible to opt out of if you want to use your vehicle’s modern convenience features. And a new study…
Commercial delivery operator Gateway Fleets ordered 100 medium-duty electric box vans from Workhorse earlier this year. That experiment seems to be going well, because the company just ordered 200 more. The rapid expansion of online shopping for everything from groceries to car parts and road-ready motorcycles has also seen the expansion of last-mile delivery contractors. They’re the essential workers who keep the online economy rolling, and they are getting positively pummeled by this year’s record fuel prices. Gateway Fleets gets it, and their “truck-as-a-service” business model bundles purpose-built electric trucks with charging infrastructure, fleet support, and depot access through flexible financing…
A24 pissed off one of the internet’s largest horror communities when it announced it was working on an SCP Foundation film, but apparently hadn’t bothered to contact the SCP Wiki team, nor did it commit to releasing it under a Creative Commons license as required. Seeing an easy PR win, Neon is cashing in by announcing it’s making its own SCP movie. But unlike A24, it proactively reached out to the SCP Foundation Wiki team and has pledged to release it under the Creative Commons ShareAlike (CC BY-SA) license. This is not an “official” SCP film. None of the wiki’s staff…
The Drive 🤝 your inbox. Every weekday The Daily Brief wraps up the biggest stories and our exclusive reporting on the auto industry and car culture. Do you own a fun car with a dual-clutch automatic transmission and sometimes wish you would have gotten a stick? These days, it may not even be your fault. Plenty of fun cars are sold exclusively with paddle-shifted automatics, and they’re probably faster (and safer) in the hands of mortal drivers as a result. But driving enjoyment doesn’t always come from being quick, and the art of operating a manual is something many enthusiasts…
The Spiral Luxe Auto Pour Over combines a coffee grinder with a rotating water spout. Breville What Breville did for toast and soda the company is now hoping to do for pour-over coffee. The new Breville Spiral Luxe Auto Pour Over is a decidedly premium $600 kitchen appliance that makes pour-overs from scratch. Machines that turn the somewhat fussy process of making pour-overs into something as simple as a Mr. Coffee have existed for years, but Breville’s device goes a step further by adding a built-in coffee grinder. Typical pour-overs require you to grind coffee to…
BMW plans to trim its global lineup while adding a new flagship SUV for American buyers.
Automotive Volkswagen is marking a major milestone for one of its most important U.S.-market vehicles as production of the redesigned 2027 Atlas gets underway at the automaker’s Chattanooga, Tennessee, assembly plant. The second-generation Atlas began rolling down the line this summer, and Volkswagen recently gathered employees, company leaders and community representatives at the facility to celebrate the occasion. The new three-row SUV is scheduled to reach U.S. dealerships in October, beginning another chapter for a model that has become a major part of Volkswagen’s American identity. The Atlas has deep roots in Chattanooga. Production of the original model…
Much will happen in the auto industry over the next four years, including the reclassification of vehicles for the US market, based on new, less-stringent corporate average fuel economy standards announced this week. Starting in model year 2030, the US Department of Transportation wants vehicle classifications to reflect reality, eliminating a decades-old loophole that allowed many popular vehicles – ranging from the massive Chevrolet Suburban to the old Chrysler PT Cruiser to be labeled as light trucks. What sounds like a bizarre, wonky policy crafted for corner cutting to evade environmentally focused fuel-efficiency mandates since the 1970s has actually altered…
