The plug-in powertrain also allows some 50 miles of electric-only running, making the RS5 a viable – if slightly outrageous – option for company car users. Stopping power comes in the form of 420mm steel front discs and 400mm rears, but Audi also offers carbon-ceramics all-round as a £6000 option for a 30kg saving in unsprung weight. Banishing understeer The new plug-in hybrid drivetrain has also been configured to address the RS4’s long-running understeer issue, says Audi. A new Dynamic Torque Control system includes an electromechanical torque vectoring rear differential – effectively a limited-slip differential but with an 11bhp motor, geared so it…

Octopus, the UK’s largest energy supplier, has launched a system that automatically invoices employers for the cost of home-charging company cars for business trips – even if they’re not a customer.  At home is by far the cheapest place for electric car drivers to plug in, thanks to an Ofgem-capped rate of 27p/kWh and utility companies (including Octopus) offering rates as low as 7p/kWh to charge overnight. That compares with an average of 76p/kWh for the fastest DC public chargers or 54p/kWh for slower units, according to the latest Zap-Map data.  At the higher of those two rates, a typical EV averaging 3.5mpkWh would…

A Theme Tuesday post in 2026? I know, weird, right? However, as I mentioned in my previous post, a lot of my Motorama 2025 content got lost in the vortex of a sinking (now sunk) ship. With this year’s event just around the corner, I’ve decided to liberate many of these photos. Think of this post as a multi-part version of the event preview posts I used to do way back in 2010/2012. Now I’m humbly aware that I’m known for three photo types: straight-on engine bay shots, rear three-quarter shots and profile shots. Unimaginative? Perhaps, but I think those…

Bjorn Nyland’s old 2019 Model 3 now shows ~21% loss at 182,000 km (113,000 miles)—higher than expected. He blames early fast-charging, but notes that the BMS may lowball capacity if it never sees a battery that is frequently full or near-empty. Even with the loss, he expects around 400 km (248 miles) of summer range and half that in winter—still usable. Battery degradation is one of the biggest fears when buying a used EV, but actual capacity loss varies widely depending on many factors. If an EV lived its life in a cold climate, covered a lot of miles, and…

Ticketing marketplace SeatGeek has announced a partnership with Spotify that will direct an artist’s fans to its platform from the Spotify app. The integration is currently limited to a few participating venues for which SeatGeek is the primary ticket seller. While SeatGeek is one of the largest online marketplaces for the secondary ticketing market, the company’s announcement makes clear that this Spotify integration only applies to venues where it’s the primary ticketing company. Retro cruisers have a special kind of charm. They sit low, stretch long, and carry engines that rumble instead of scream. Park one outside a café and it feels like the 1950s never left. Aside from their designs, modern retro cruisers are not stuck in the past. They are built with more modern engineering, which means ABS for safer stops, traction control for slippery roads, and engines that start every time without drama. You get the style of yesterday without the maintenance headaches that once came with it. In this space, you have a lot of choices today. American brands…

The Dodge Charger Daytona has just finished its first full year on the market, and the results weren’t pretty. Dodge moved a paltry 7,421 of them over during 2025, compared with nearly 76,000 for the previous-generation Charger’s last full year on the market and almost 45,000 for the outgoing Challenger. Ouch. This drop-off left a gap in the performance market, which rivals were undoubtedly more than happy to fill. Below are 10 sporty cars that outsold the Charger Daytona in 2025. In the last 12 months or so, Canadians have seen several changes around the automotive industry, and the 2026 Canadian International AutoShow reflected that shift. It was about a year ago when the federal EV mandate was “paused”, while Quebec and British Columbia changed the rules around provincial rebates. Consumers responded by rushing out to buy battery electric vehicles. By late 2025, consumers were off the EV train in favour of hybrid electric vehicles when looking for an alternative to the traditional internal combustion engine. This year’s show reflected the change in consumer appetite with various makes and models added…

Automotive Toyota is adding some real edge to its EV lineup with the first-ever Toyota bZ Woodland, a new all-electric SUV that leans harder into utility and trail-ready design than the standard bZ. It is expected to arrive in U.S. dealerships in March 2026, and Toyota says pricing will start at $45,300 before dealer processing and handling. For buyers who want an EV that feels less like an appliance and more like a go-anywhere daily driver, this one looks like a step in the right direction. The headline number is power. Standard all-wheel drive teams up with a…

In 2025, Colombia was the third country in Latin America in terms of electric vehicle sales, surpassed only by Brazil and Mexico. Credit: Josep Maria Freixes / Colombia One. Colombia closed 2025 as the third country in Latin America with the highest electric vehicle sales, surpassed only by regional giants Brazil and Mexico. Beyond a mere statistical figure, this result reflects a profound transformation in the national automotive market, driven by growing demand for clean technologies, a wider range of models, and, for many, the arrival of new global players in the Colombian market. Although the road ahead is still…
