When most people think about America’s best-selling budget electric bike, they probably picture affordability, practicality, and maybe a folding frame that fits in the trunk of a car. What they probably don’t picture is a former high-performance mountain bike racer hammering through the Arizona desert. But that’s exactly part of the story behind Lectric eBikes and its wildly popular Lectric XP lineup. Luis Cerna, now a product manager at Lectric, didn’t grow up as part of the e-bike boom. He grew up riding good old-fashioned pedal bikes. Like many lifelong cyclists, he started exploring his neighborhood as a kid before…
Good electric bikes are expensive. So why not buy one and share it?That’s the idea behind the Tenways CGO Compact e-bike I’ve been sharing with my wife and teenage daughter for the last two weeks. It adapts in seconds without any tools to comfortably fit riders of varying heights thanks to its low-entry frame, quick-release seat post, and height-adjustable handlebar. It also takes up less space than an ordinary bike with its 20-inch wheels, folding pedals, and a handlebar that twists to create a slim, wall-hugging profile that goes flat inside a car or train. The CGO Compact’s geometry puts riders into…
No matter how good you are at something, you can’t be 100 percent perfect. That applies to every person, brand, or thing. So even the companies that sell billions of products each year have products that aren’t considered by buyers. It’s not too different with your favorite bikemakers, either. A large part of their revenue is from a handful of products, while many other bikes remain underrated, overlooked, or simply on sale for the sake of it. We’re looking at one such bike today from the stable of Team Green, aka Kawasaki. This is one of the new additions to…
The new Range Rover Velar EV is set for an unveiling in the coming months – and the latest pictures from testing reveal just how radically different it will look from the brand’s other models past and present. Expected to be the one of the first models to use JLR’s new EMA platform for smaller electric models, the Mk2 Velar is tipped for a debut by the end of this year before going into production at Halewood in 2027. It will be joined at the Merseyside factory by the new Defender Sport and possibly a next-generation Range Rover Evoque. Like the current Velar,…
Non-hybrid gas cars are becoming increasingly irrelevant in Europe. Hybrids, plug-in hybrids and fully electric models are now overwhelmingly popular. EV sales continue to rise faster than any other powertrain. It’s a tough period for the sales of electric vehicles in the U.S., with extreme polarization along party lines and radical policy reversals. But across the Atlantic, the story looks very different. In Europe, progress towards a cleaner transportation sector marches on. Battery-powered vehicles accounted for a growing share of the European Union’s car market in January, while sales of non-hybrid gas and diesel cars witnessed a stunning drop. That’s…
Now that Apple has started blocking users under 18 in certain regions from downloading apps, the company has introduced new age verification tools. Those will help developers “meet their age assurance obligations under upcoming US and regional laws, including in Brazil, Australia, Singapore, Utah and Louisiana,” the company said in a news release on its Developer site.As of February 24, 2026, users in Australia, Brazil and Singapore won’t be able to download apps rated 18+ unless their age is confirmed through “reasonable methods.” Apple noted that any apps distributed in Brazil that are declared to contain loot boxes will be…
The McLaren W1 is the successor to the F1 and P1 as the brand’s flagship hypercar – but it is a bit expensive. If you want to fulfill your dreams of owning a W1, then there is a cheaper alternative, courtesy of Amalgam Collection, which has designed a model W1. At £14,995, the model W1 isn’t cheap; in fact, for that money you could buy an actual car – a brand-new Dacia Sandero is £230 cheaper, or even less if you go through the Auto Express Buy A Car service. But without wishing to sound like an M&S advert, the model W1…
EV charger. Image courtesy of Canva. As Waltham city workers begin to install new electric vehicle charging stations in its public lots, the Traffic Commission voted this week to reduce parking fees for spaces fitted with EV chargers in municipal lots. Last month, Wires Director Tim Kelly told the Traffic Commission his department planned to install EV chargers in 20 new public parking spots across the city and upgrade existing public chargers. Kelly told the commission this month at its Feb. 19 meeting that his department had started to install the new chargers, although they’d been temporarily curtailed by winter…
Croatian hypercar specialist Rimac took a break from its 0-249-0 mph war with Koenigsegg recently to concentrate on another, brand-new world first in an official collaboration with Red Bull. One that featured a high-performance monoplane, piloted by Red Bull athlete Dario Costa, landing atop a moving train and taking off again immediately after. Back in 2023, we drove Vigilante’s glorious 1975 Jeep Cherokee S restomod. The Texas-based re-engineering company hasn’t been resting on its laurels. Far from it. Vigilante’s latest bespoke creation is based on a 1966 Jeep Super Wagoneer, retaining its timeless style and charm while bringing every mechanical and performance aspect up to date. When you’re talking about building a modern version of a classic Jeep, you can’t do it without a new Hemi and this one gets a big dose of power, courtesy of a Mopar Gen III 392 Hemi SRT-8 V8 making 485 horsepower. Our experience with that 1975…
