- The Denza Z9S measures 5,090 mm in length and offers two powertrain versions producing 320 kW (429 hp) and 370 kW.
- The car’s dimensions and positioning overlap closely with those of the Xiaomi SU7, and it is expected to compete directly with the latter once launched.
The Z9S, a new all-electric sedan from Denza, the premium brand under BYD (HKEX: 1211), has appeared in a regulatory filing, moving closer to its official launch.
China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released its latest batch of new model filings on July 10, with the Denza Z9S among them, revealing key specifications.
The Denza Z9S measures 5,090 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width, with a wheelbase of 3,025 mm. Its dimensions and positioning are close to those of the Xiaomi SU7, which is 4,997 mm long with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm.
The car comes in two powertrain versions, both equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor produced by BYD, and both with a top speed of 250 km/h.
The lower-power version has a peak motor output of 320 kW (429 hp), a body height of 1,510 mm, a curb weight of 2,250 kg, and 19-inch tires.
The higher-power version raises the peak motor output to 370 kW, with a body height of 1,490 mm, a curb weight of 2,545 kg, and 20-inch tires.
Both versions are fitted with power batteries based on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, and offer optional configurations such as an electric spoiler, different exterior mirrors, and door handles.
The Denza Z9S is the latest addition to the brand’s Z series, following the Z9 and Z9 GT. Based on the typical timeline for new vehicle filings in China, the car is expected to be officially launched within the coming months.
Denza is accelerating its product offensive. On July 9, the brand’s first all-electric two-door supercar, the Denza Z, made its overseas debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK, becoming the first Chinese electric supercar to arrive in the European market.
The Denza Z will open for pre-orders in China on July 13 and go on sale in the fourth quarter. It is expected to compete with models such as the Porsche 911 and the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra in the high-performance car market.
Denza delivered 20,352 vehicles in June, up 28.95% year-on-year and setting a new monthly delivery record. However, its cumulative deliveries in the first half stood at 66,541 units, still down 16.65% year-on-year.
The addition of the Z9S is expected to further enrich Denza’s product lineup, helping the brand vie for share in China’s fiercely competitive premium all-electric sedan market.
