After a brief hiatus, the Jeep Cherokee returns for the 2026 model year as a more practical and efficient choice within Jeep’s growing lineup. The “No Plug, All Adventure” ethos of the new Cherokee hints at Jeep’s new approach to a potential lineup of electrified vehicles with a different kind of philosophy. Taking a more traditional hybrid approach than the well-received Jeep Wrangler 4xe, the Cherokee marks a significant shift in not only the electrified offerings from Jeep but the apparent market pivot from plug-in hybrids. How does this new Jeep hybrid fit into the seemingly evolving market of green…
Meta’s Oversight Board is investigating an apparently AI-generated video of a British politician that misrepresents their views on issues such as immigration. The board said the video in question was part of an album posted on Facebook in November last year, and features a seemingly deepfaked Labour Party councillor who represents an area in Scotland making sarcastic and offensive comments about refugees and sexual assault. As well as the deepfake video, the post also includes a video of pro-Palestine protesters that the Oversight Board also suspects to be AI-generated, plus a likely genuine still image of several women, including the…

The return of the Dakota nameplate isn’t the only addition coming to Ram showrooms. That resurrected nameplate will arrive in showrooms along with a compact pickup named Rampage and the Ramcharger full-size SUV. Oh, and a full line of performance street trucks. Other than its name and a few styling changes, the Royale was essentially an Opel Rekord E, and therefore also more or less the same thing as the contemporary Vauxhall Carlton and Holden Commodore. Dodge Brisa Quite unlike anything else marketed by the brand, the Brisa was sold as a Dodge only because of an arrangement between companies which otherwise rarely worked together. It was in fact a first-generation Hyundai Accent (pictured) manufactured in Venezuela from 2002 to 2006. The Brisa name was also used for a completely unrelated Kia of the 1970s, which was a variant of the second-generation…
Photo: Vestas Wind and solar just hit a major global milestone: For the first time ever, they generated more electricity than gas for the full month of April. According to new analysis from independent energy think tank Ember, wind and solar produced 22% of the world’s electricity in April 2026, compared to 20% from gas. Together, the two renewable sources generated a record 531 terawatt-hours (TWh) of electricity during the month, 54 TWh more than gas plants generated globally, at 477 TWh. The timing is notable. April marked the first full month of the latest global energy crisis tied to…
Mercedes-AMG is making a decisive return to V8 power, heralded by the incoming CLE 63 Mythos coupé. AMG’s variant of the CLE has thus far been available with only a turbocharged straight six, but the Mythos will bring a new V8 derived from that introduced by the facelifted S-Class. The twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre engine has a flat-plane crank – typically reserved for supercars – and in the S-Class it produces 530bhp and 553lb ft. That’s sufficient to propel the two-tonne saloon from rest to 62mph in 4.4sec. AMG is expected to turn up the wick on the powerplant for the new CLE 63…
Stellantis is reorganizing its brand structure, announcing new investments in global platforms and powertrains, and shedding more light on its partnerships with Leapmotor, Dongfeng, and Jaguar Land Rover as part of its long-term growth strategy spelled out today in its FaSTLAne 2030 plan at Investor Day at the North American headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The multinational automaker now identifies four “global brands” that will receive 70% of future investments: Jeep, Ram, Peugeot, and Fiat, along with the Pro One business unit. That leaves five “regional brands,” namely Chrysler, Dodge, Citroën, Opel, and Alfa Romeo, while “specialty brands” will include…
