We may just have gotten an early look at the Google Pixel Watch 5 — and from an unusual source. Randy Pitchford, the creator of the Borderlands game franchise, posted a pair of images of a watch on X, saying that his friend found it underwater, while scuba diving near Saint Martin, as reported earlier by Kotaku.“He noted that the reverse of the watch indicates that it is a Google Pixel 5, which has not yet been announced, let alone released,” Pitchford writes. “It seems to be fine. The face indicates an empty battery, but seems to have enough reserve…
Car makers in Europe are divided on whether upcoming replacements for big-selling family cars should come with the option of a plug-in hybrid drivetrain or not.The arguments are compelling on both sides. Offering a car with both an electric motor and a combustion engine hedges your bets and keeps hold of customers sceptical of going electric. On the other hand, going all-electric avoids the expensive duplication of drivetrains, one of which might not even be allowed after 2035.
Back in December, Meta announced a new AI support assistant it promised would make the account recovery process “faster and simpler” for people who had been locked out of their Facebook or Instagram pages. Now, it seems that Meta may have over-delivered on that promise. That same Meta AI support assistant has apparently been used by hackers to hijack a bunch of Instagram accounts. According to security researchers, the AI tool made it ridiculously easy for hackers to take over the accounts, even if they were protected by two-factor authentication. The exploit was flagged over the weekend by numerous security…

UPDATE: 2026/06/01 8:55am PST BY SEAN MCMANUS Not Just Powerful, But Luxurious Added information about the 2026 S E-Tron GT’s luxury and comfort features that command its high price tag and further elevate this as an incredible Audi to buy. Audi’s RS models are some of the most coveted performance cars on sale, and they have been for some time. However, they can be a bit hardcore for daily driving or simply commuting in, but that doesn’t mean buyers have to settle for something totally docile when shopping for a non-RS Audi. Should go-faster juice and a less-hardcore driving balance…
Leno’s Law, an effort in California to expand what is considered a classic or collector car in the state, has run into more than a few speed bumps along the way. Now in its second attempt after being rejected by lawmakers last year, the bill has some backers that are on TV even more than Jay himself. The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile is on board, with its leadership promoting the new bill and that second attempt. Honda has announced that from June 1st, all new Hondas will be covered by an extended eight-year ‘service activated’ warranty, covering up to 100,000 miles if serviced at a main Honda dealership. This is in addition to the standard three-year, 90,000 mile warranty. Owners of any Honda model registered after April 1st 2026 will be able to unlock the extra warranty when the car is serviced at a main Honda dealership according to the annual service schedule. This extends up to eight years, but can lapse if the car misses the service or is looked at by a third-party garage. …
The biggest car news and reviews, no BS Our free daily newsletter sends the stories that really matter directly to you, every weekday. Back in March, the Feds sent notice to nearly 100 car dealerships warning them to stop engaging in deceptive pricing practices—or else. But despite making a pretty big deal about the whole thing at the time, the FTC declined to publicly identify the dealerships they’d sent warnings to. Late last week, the FTC dumped the full list of recipients online. Automotive News shared highlights of the list, which is available (somewhat piecemeal and in no obvious order)…
There’s a new bill in the US House of Representatives that wants to modernize the NHTSA, among other changes. The long text includes items like improving recall fixes, looking at VIN and window sticker changes, addressing vehicle fires, and more. But a closer look finds the bill could have some startling effects. A new report says that the Motor Vehicle Modernization Act of 2026 could ultimately remove Mercedes-Benz, possibly the largest builder of heavy trucks in the US, from this market. And it all comes back to China. New Bill Looks To Ban ‘Adversary Governments’ Mercedes Tuscaloosa plantMercedes-Benz Changes to…
