Drivers could save millions of gallons of fuel and tens of millions of dollars every day if they simply obeyed posted speed limits, according to a new study published in the journal Communications Sustainability. Researchers from the University of Minnesota analyzed more than 120 million real-world vehicle trips across the United States and found that strict compliance with speed limits would save an average of 6.7 million gallons of gasoline, $22 million in fuel costs and 57,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per day. The Finnish EV charger maker analyzed public charging sites connected to its ChargEye cloud software and found that plug count had roughly three times the relationship with site utilization as total installed charging power. SpaceX has announced plans to build a new $100 billion “Starbase” launch site on the southern coast of Louisiana, giving it a third potential location to launch its giant Starship rocket.
