One of the signature features of the current Ford Bronco is the removable or folding roof. In fact, nearly every generation of Bronco, other than the Bronco II, has had some level of removable roof. Even through the 1970s when it looked like convertibles might go away, Ford managed to keep a removable section behind a fixed roof over the front seats. Yet, it seems that for a moment, however brief, the company considered going to a permanent top for its fancy Filson model. 2027 Ford Bronco Filson First Edition from the front three-quarter angleFord Ford Sought The Sound Of…
The biggest car news and reviews, no BS Our free daily newsletter sends the stories that really matter directly to you, every weekday. Race cars are cool, but oftentimes, they have rules to follow. The same is true for pulling trucks and tractors. But that doesn’t stop some folks from building the ultimate version of whatever they own. Some people engineer Corvette track cars that would stomp a factory racer, but Dave Will put his wits to work on a John Deere 5020 with a 16-cylinder Detroit Diesel engine out of a daggum tugboat. It’s called “Johnzilla,” and rightfully so.…
Toyota’s new electric SUVs are selling surprisingly well, becoming top-sellers in several markets. So, why is it pulling back now? Toyota sees demand for new EVs After a painfully slow start, Toyota is actually selling electric vehicles. Shortly after launching its first EV, the bZ4X, Toyota issued an urgent recall because the wheels could potentially fall off. Well, the Japanese automaker is taking another swing at the market with a new lineup of electric SUVs. After launching the updated 2026 bZ in the US late last year, dropping the “4X”, Toyota’s electric SUV quickly became a top seller. In the…
Apple is reportedly preparing a potentially disruptive change to how notifications work in iOS 27 and iPadOS 27. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, incoming notifications now slide in from the left side of the screen in internal builds of the software. On its own, that might sound like a simple visual tweak. But it appears to be part of a much larger rethink of navigation gestures — one that could force longtime iPhone users to retrain years of muscle memory. The familiar swipe may no longer do what you expect For years, iPhone users have relied on a simple gesture:…
Carvana, the used-car platform known for online sales and vending machine dealerships, could take a financial stake in Slate Auto, the Jeff Bezos-backed EV truck startup targeting a $25,000 price point. SEC filings reported this week indicate Carvana holds a warrant to purchase shares in the company—a move that signals more than passive interest from one of the most recognizable names in vehicle retail. For buyers who’ve heard Slate’s name but aren’t sure what the startup is actually building, the Carvana connection is a good reason to take a closer look. Slate is chasing something neither the Rivian R1T nor…
Volkswagen’s Affordable Golf Comeback Could Be Closer Than Ever for U.S. Buyers : Automotive Addicts
Automotive Volkswagen may soon have an opportunity to fill a noticeable gap in its American lineup, and it comes in the form of a familiar nameplate. According to comments made by VW Group of America CEO Kjell Gruner in an interview with Automotive News, the automaker is exploring the possibility of bringing the standard Golf hatchback back to the United States. While American buyers currently only have access to the performance-focused Golf GTI and Golf R, a return of the more affordable and practical Golf could help VW strengthen its position in a market where value-oriented vehicles are…
Even if you’ve done nothing wrong, it’s never a good idea to hand your phone to the cops. But international travelers at American airports often have no choice — even if they’re US citizens. When Minnesota labor organizer Janette Zahia Corcelius returned home from a three-week trip to Europe in late April, she was detained and questioned by customs agents at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. Before they let her go, the agents searched her luggage twice, confiscated political literature she had purchased abroad, and seized her phone — which has yet to be returned, according to a complaint filed in federal…

American buyers are used to looking overseas for their luxury cars. And if they’re looking for a full-size executive sedan or a high-end SUV, they may well buy something with a German, Japanese, or sometimes British badge. China wouldn’t come into the conversation, politics or not, as this was the place known more for inexpensive EVs rather than flagship automobiles. Or at least that used to be the case, as that view is now increasingly out of date. The Chinese market has become an aggressive proving ground for high-end vehicles, novel electrification, software-defined cabins, cutting-edge chassis technology, and luxury packaging.…
