Canada’s automotive aftermarket is showing a widening divide in early 2026, with employment in repair and maintenance continuing to grow while parts and accessories retail moves in the opposite direction, according to new data. DesRosiers Automotive Consultants reported that employment in automotive repair and maintenance rose 1.9 per cent year over year in February to 123,100 workers, reflecting steady demand for service work. At the same time, parts and accessories retail employment declined by 2.1 per cent, highlighting uneven conditions across aftermarket segments. The divergence comes as total automotive employment dipped 0.8 per cent year over year to 578,9000 workers…

The “super-antigen” could provide long-term protection against a wide range of diseases spread by humans. PanuShot/Shutterstock Wherever you stand on the role of AI in the future of humanity, it has undeniably proved useful in the field of medical research. And now a team of researchers from the University of Cambridge have utilized the technology to create what they call a universal vaccine that could be used to prevent future pandemics before they take hold. It’s the first time that a vaccine with an active component designed entirely by a computer has been used in human…
Volkswagen’s Atlas is new this year on an updated platform. It also has more horsepower thanks to revisions to its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. But with gas prices well above $4 per gallon across the country, the real question is how thirsty is it? The answer is that it should use less gasoline than last year for every mile you drive. The biggest car news and reviews, no BS Our free daily newsletter sends the stories that really matter directly to you, every weekday. Remember those spring-loaded toy cars that you’d pull back to release? Did you ever sit around as a seven-year-old wondering why adults messed around with gasoline or diesel when clearly all you had to do was pull the car back far enough and it could easily travel long distances using no fuel at all? No? Just me and Adrian Roșca of Rosmar H? Cool. Cool, cool, cool. OK, I’m no engineer, and this Audi prototype isn’t using…
Xpeng’s head of autonomous driving told Electrek that the company is spending roughly 300 million RMB (~$41 million) per month on AI training alone and believes it has already reached parity with Tesla’s FSD v13 — with v14 within reach before the end of summer. I sat down with Dr. Xianming Liu, head of Xpeng’s General Intelligence Center, the day after he delivered a keynote at CVPR 2026 in Denver — sharing the stage with Tesla’s Ashok Elluswamy and leaders from Nvidia and Waymo at one of the world’s top computer vision conferences. The conversation covered Xpeng’s VLA 2.0 architecture,…
The biggest car news and reviews, no BS Our free daily newsletter sends the stories that really matter directly to you, every weekday. The 2026 Lexus RX is a pillar in the mid-size luxury SUV segment, and for good reason. It’s comfortable, quiet, and easy to drive. In fact, it’s almost too easy to drive—so much so that you can practically fall asleep at the wheel. The RX is available in three flavors: gas, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid. My tester came in 500h F Sport guise, meaning it’s the range-topping hybrid before crossing into plug-in territory. The F Sport Performance…
The Porsche Carrera GT is widely regarded as one of the best supercars ever built, perhaps even the greatest of all time. So when a dealership decided to tear apart one unfortunate example and transform it into something entirely different, it understandably raised a few eyebrows. The result is the Miller Motorcars JC9, a one-off creation that reimagines Porsche’s legendary V10 supercar through a very different lens. Miller Motorcars JC9 Based On The Porsche Carrera GTMiller Motorcars The JC9 comes from Connecticut-based Miller Motorcars and was commissioned to celebrate the dealership’s 50th anniversary selling some of the world’s most coveted…
Classed as a long-term agreement, leasing is one of the easiest ways to get a brand-new car for a price that works for you. Hybrids have also grown in popularity at the same time, so getting an electrified powertrain in this way can be a great blend of efficiency and lower cost. Leasing is usually paid off over a term of 24–48 months, and there is the option to either pay a large remaining fee or walk away at the end of the term. That makes choosing your new car flexible. Some may have different experiences of leasing a car…
The Volkswagen Atlas has built a loyal following since it arrived for the 2018 model year as a three-row family SUV designed specifically for the American market. Built in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and sized to compete with the best the segment has to offer, the Atlas carved out its niche by combining genuine third-row usability, thoughtful interior design, and competitive pricing in a space crowded with strong alternatives. Now, with a fully redesigned second-generation model confirmed for 2027, the Atlas is about to get a lot more interesting for family SUV shoppers. If you are shopping for an Atlas…
