The Dubai Police Department getting a new supercar for its fleet isn’t all that unusual. It has a bunch of them from Mercedes-Benzes to Rolls-Royces. However, it seems as though the department is on the verge of a buying spree. It added a Mansory-tuned Ferrari only a month ago.
Now, it’s adding another exotic to the fleet with a Lamborghini Temerario.

Dubai Gets These Cars Partly For The Tourism Factor
The Lamborghini Temerario could arguably be one of the better supercars for patrolling a city, particularly touristy downtown areas. Even though it doesn’t have much range, the plug-in hybrid would likely be at its most efficient at low speeds around town. It could probably even quietly roll up on suspects, if it wasn’t a bright green and white Lamborghini. That’s not why Dubai has the car, though. It’s more about public relations. As Brigadier Saeed Al Hajri, director of the Dubai Police criminal investigation department put it:
“Our luxury patrol fleet represents an innovative approach to policing, combining an effective security presence with community and tourist engagement. These vehicles help people feel safe, showcase Dubai’s positive image to visitors from around the world, and raise awareness of police services and public safety. Above all, they reinforce our commitment to being a police force that is close to the community.”-Bridadier Saee Al Hajri
While the department will probably take advantage of the hybrid system for its efficiency, it probably won’t be getting much out of the full power of the Temerario. Combined output from the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 and trio of electric motors (two up front, one coupled to the engine for the rear) is 907 and 589 pound-feet of torque. That engine makes all of its power at high rpm, too, leaning on the electric motors for lower-speed torque. It can reach incredible rpms, too, with a redline of 10,000 rpm. We suspect that will be a rare experience for officers behind the wheel, unless they want to rev it up at a stop light for tourists.
Is Dubai The First Police Department With A Lamborghini Temerario?
What’s a bit funny about Dubai taking delivery of this Lamborghini in October, is that Italy beat them to it by about a month. The Italian State Police got a Temerario of their own in early September, and they even took a photo very similar to the one that Dubai did. It’s also a standard car with stock output, but it will likely be exercised more.

For 20 years, Italy’s state police have used Lamborghinis for high-speed medical supply and organ transplant deliveries. The department says that they’ve transported organs 200 times, occasionally for emergency life-and-death situations. The Temerario is the sixth car to be used for this purpose, with past cars including Gallardos, Huracans, and Uruses. One of the Huracans and one of the Uruses are even still in service.
CarBuzz Insight – Why This Matters:
As a police car, a Lamborghini doesn’t make a lot of sense. It’s expensive to buy and maintain, not to mention to repair. Plus, it has basically no cargo space and no back seat.
However, there’s no denying that if your primary purpose is getting attention, which seems to be the case for Dubai, it’s hard to find anything more fitting.
