- Denza will hold a global launch event for the Denza Z at the UK’s Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 9.
- The car features a triple-motor system with a total peak power of 1,582 hp and a 0-100 km/h acceleration under 2 seconds.
The Denza Z, the first all-electric two-door sports car from BYD’s (HKEX: 1211) premium brand Denza, will hold its global launch event at the UK’s Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 9.
Denza announced the plan on Weibo on Tuesday, saying that Goodwood will welcome the first Chinese intelligent electric supercar.
The Denza Z concept car made its global debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2025, while the production version had its global premiere at the Beijing Auto Show this April.
Denza said in April that the car would launch first in Europe, with the timing for its China market debut coming later than Europe.
The BYD sub-brand has already filed regulatory declarations for the Denza Z in China, paving the way for its launch.
According to filing information released last month by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the Denza Z comes in three variants, including a hardtop version, a soft-top convertible version, and a performance version.
Its body length ranges from 4,780 mm to 4,870 mm, depending on the variant and whether a rear wing is optioned. The width is 1,990 mm, the height is either 1,330 mm or 1,350 mm, and the wheelbase is 2,780 mm across all variants.
The three variants have curb weights of 2,220 kg, 2,240 kg, and 2,290 kg, respectively, each with a rated seating capacity of four.
They are all equipped with a triple-motor system consisting of one front motor and two rear motors, with peak power outputs of 500 kW, 340 kW, and 340 kW, respectively, bringing the total system peak power to 1,180 kW (1,582 hp).
The hardtop and soft-top convertible versions have a top speed of 300 km/h, while the performance version reaches 350 km/h, underscoring its track-oriented positioning.
Denza has previously said the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in under 2 seconds.
The Denza Z features China’s first fully in-house developed steer-by-wire system, eliminating the mechanical connection in the steering system, Denza said.
The car is also equipped with the industry’s first new energy vehicle (NEV)-exclusive DiSus-M intelligent magnetorheological body control system. The system builds up damping force in less than 10 milliseconds, offering advantages such as fast response and a wide adjustment range.
The Denza Z is the first sports car to feature BYD’s e3 technology, enabling independent drive from three motors and independent steering from the two rear-wheel motors.
The car is equipped with BYD’s Blade Battery based on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry and comes standard with a carbon-fiber roof.
Denza’s sales chief Li Hui announced in December 2025 that the Denza Z would take on Germany’s Nürburgring Nordschleife and would announce results after that.
The Denza Z marks a key step in the Denza brand’s expansion into the high-performance sports car market.
After its launch, the car is expected to compete with models such as the Porsche 911 and the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra in the high-performance vehicle market.
The Denza Z comes in three variants, all powered by a tri-motor system with a combined peak output of 1,180 kW (1,582 hp).
