Reveal: New Mercedes-AMG CLA-Class Is The Most Powerful Yet

Imagine our surprise when Mercedes-Benz revealed the new AMG CLA-Class with up to 670-horsepower…from three electric motors. The all-electric AMG CLA can hit 62 mph in just 2.7 seconds and can be driven in RWD-only mode. Wait till you hear where the axial flux motors in the new AMG CLA are also found…

Mercedes’ Newest AMG Packs 670 HP, So Why Can’t America Have It?

    2027 Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4Matic+ Electric (European Spec)Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-AMG gave less than 24 hours notice that it was dropping an all-new model at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. And that model is the new AMG CLA-Class. Whereas the old CLA 45 had up to 416 horsepower in the US, the new one is up to 670 hp, not from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder but from a tri-motor electric powertrain. That’s right, this is an electric AMG CLA, and that’s bad news not just because of the general anti-EV sentiment, but because it means it’s not on the radar of Mercedes-Benz USA — at least not yet.

RUF Automobile, the car builder responsible for the world’s fastest car in 1987 (the CTR “Yellowbird”), the CTR3 from 2007 with a bespoke body and chassis, and the carbon-fiber monocoque 2017 CTR Anniversary, has done something genuinely interesting – by creating the flattest eight-cylinder engine you’ve seen. Say hello to B8:

What started 33 years ago as a fun hill climb for 50 historic cars and motorcycles has become a four-day car culture extravaganza that attracted some 200,000 people from around the world last year.

Reveal: Maserati Reveals Its GT4 Race Car To Rival Porsche

Maserati has revealed Project GT4, a direct rival to the Porsche 911 GT4R, and it’s based on the newly-updated GranTurismo, instead of the MCPura. With as much as 690 horsepower on tap, the race car uses a front-engine, rear drive layout, and loads of aer upgrades you have to see for yourself…

Maserati Just Launched A Rival To The Newest Porsche 911 No One Saw Coming

Today it seems that every car company that produces any kind of sporty coupe also wants to get into racing. One of the hottest classes for automakers to develop race cars for has been GT3, with Toyota and Genesis developing their GR GT and Magma GT sports cars with the class in mind.

It’s far from the only sports car racing division, though, and Maserati has its sights set on the others. Following up on its MC20-based (and now MCPura-based) GT2 comes the Project GT4, a direct rival to the recently-announced Porsche 911 GT4R. But instead of basing it on the mid-engined MCPura, Maserati has built it on the bones of the newly-updated GranTurismo.

Reveal: Chinese Automaker Brings A Duo Of Porsche 911 Rivals To Goodwood – And They Look Amazing

Denza, a subsidiary of BYD (the company giving Tesla nightmares), revealed two stunning Porsche 911 rivals at Goodwood – neither has an engine, instead relying on a trio of electric motors for the 1,582 horsepower that enables a sub-two-second sprint to 60 mph.

This Chinese Porsche 911 Rival Looks Like A Bentley Supercar With No Engine

Denza Z Coupe at Goodwood Festival of SpeedMichal Okonski/CarBuzz/Valnet

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is well underway already, and one of the big reveals is a trio of electric supercars from a brand you’ve never heard of. Denza is a subsidiary of Chinese automaker and Tesla’s worst nightmare BYD, and the Z is its flagship model, shown today in Spider, Coupe, and Racing forms. But unlike the Nissan sports car with which it shares a name, the Denza Z is a supercar that wants to go hunting for Nürburgring lap records.

Previously shown in convertible Spider format, Goodwood marks the reveal of the Coupe and Racing variants, and in their rich red paint and with diamond-like taillights, there’s a hint of Bentley to certain angles of the design.

Reveal: McLaren 788HS Is The Most Extreme 750S Yet

McLaren Special Operations have created a final send off of the 720S model family, which culminates in this, the 200-model only 788HS. It comes with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that makes 777 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque – and it makes it’s public debut at Goodwood.

It seems like McLaren is planning to retire the 720S model family (which lives on today in the 750S), but first, it will give the platform an aggressive final variant. Built by McLaren Special Operations (MSO) and debuting at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend, the 788HS is the most extreme version of the brand’s second-generation supercar, sitting at the top of the heap currently made up of the 720S, 750S, and 765LT. With more power, downforce, and handling prowess than any of its kin, the 788HS promises to be one hell of a final chapter.

Debut: Red Bull RB17 Will Take On The Hill Climb

At this year’s Goodwood Festival Of Speed, Red Bull’s answer to the Aston Martin Valkyrie will make an important debut: This $6-million hypercar is limited to just 50 units, but enthusiasts will be waiting to see (and hear it) as it takes on the hill climb.

Red Bull’s V10 Valkyrie Killer Is Almost Ready To Smash Private Race Tracks

For most people, Red Bull is a brand that peddles energy drinks and clever advertisements, although some know about its Formula 1 and extreme sports exploits. And then there’s the select few who have heard of the RB17, a track-only sports car that the brand has been working on for over two years. All of that effort will come to fruition this weekend when the hypercar makes its official showcase debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where attendees will be able to see it take on the hill climb under its own naturally aspirated power. Head-to-head comparisons with the Ford GT Mk II and GMA T.50s can’t be far off.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is rapidly becoming the go-to place for boutique European sports carmakers to unveil their newest creations. For example, a revived McLaren M6GT and the latest Hennessey hypercar are premiering there this year. There’s going to be a lot to see there during the big event running from July 9 through 12.

Even tiny automakers are getting in on the action, with the Italian company Automobili Mignatta revealing sketches of its new Rina Coupe and bringing the open-roof Rina Barchetta to the event. Other than adopting a fixed roof, the latest variant follows the Barchetta’s 1960s-inspired styling but extensively takes advantage of modern materials, such as forged carbon fiber. The public also gets to see the Rina Barchetta in a fresh color scheme.

World’s Most Powerful V12 Hypercar Reveals Its Final Production Form

Looking at the interior photo below, you might think this is a new Koenigsegg hypercar making its global debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. But you’d be in the wrong Scandinavian country. Instead of Sweden, the hypercar you’re looking at here comes from Denmark. This is the Zenvo Aurora Tur, and while you might have seen images of the car before, what you see here, and at Goodwood this weekend, is the final production design of the world’s most powerful V12 hypercar.

A year on from the magnificent V12 firing up for the first time at last year’s event, Zenvo is bringing full validation prototypes to one of the world’s most famous hill climbs, and using the occasion to show off the final product customers will be buying.

The company’s Special Operations division, which spends its time with restorations and bespoke creations, has completed a job that was one of company founder Bruce’s final wishes. It’s called the M6GT, and it is a road-going version of the car that was designed and built for racing at Le Mans.

Debut: Alpine A110 Future Development Mule

The development mule that previews the third generation of the brand’s mid-engine sports car will make its debut at Goodwood 2026 – this is the sports car that will go up against the next-gen Porsche 718 Cayman and its a model worth seeing.

Porsche Can’t Decide The Cayman’s Future, But Its Biggest Rival Is Gearing Up For A New Generation

    Alpine A110 Future Close-UpAlpine

The 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed, running July 9 to 12 in the UK, will host the public debut of the Alpine A110 FUTURE, a development mule previewing the third generation of Alpine’s mid-engine sports car and rival to the next-gen Porsche 718 Cayman. The first photos have already been released, and while the prototype wears the usual camouflage gear and in fact shares most of its body panels with the current A110, it suggests the next generation will preserve the low-slung, perfectly balanced proportions that made the current car one of the best-looking vehicles on sale – even as it shifts to electric power.

The current A110 reignited the Alpine name when it debuted at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, drawing heavily from the timeless lines of the original 1960s model that cemented the French marque’s reputation through rallying success. Now Alpine faces an even bigger challenge: proving that a lightweight, razor-sharp sports car can thrive in the EV era. Better yet, there’s reason to believe the story may not end with batteries alone, as Alpine has said that an internal-combustion engine hasn’t been ruled out.

Debut: Hennessey Venom F5-M Chassis 1

Hennessey gave the Venom F5-M a real gated manual that’s mechanically connected to a V8 engine sending 2,031 horsepower to the rear wheels. We get to see – and hear it – at Goodwood.

World’s Most Powerful Manual Hypercar Will Roar To Life At Goodwood Festival Of Speed

Hennessey Venom F5-M production spec making its debut at Goodwood Festival of SpeedHennessey

A few years ago, we were promised the manual gearbox was soon to be dead. But in 2026, that’s all changing. Between simulated gearbox patents and Ferrari’s faux-manual 12Cilindri Manuale, there are a number of automakers trying to save the manual in a simulated fashion. But then there’s Hennessey, giving the Venom F5-M a real gated manual mechanically connected to a 2,031-horsepower V8 engine and rear-wheel drive. It’s the kind of bonkers project that will secure Hennessey’s place in the history books, and following a reveal two years ago, the first of 12 production models has just been revealed.

And if you’re anywhere near Goodwood House this weekend, you could see and hear it in person.
