- Zeekr’s move echoes rivals’ actions. Nio will officially launch the five-seat ES8 SUV on July 9.
- The Zeekr 9X went on sale in September 2025 with a starting price of 465,900 yuan, and is the Zeekr brand’s first hybrid model.
Zeekr, the premium EV (electric vehicle) brand under Geely Auto (HKEX: 0175), announced that pre-sales have officially opened for the five-seat version of its flagship SUV (sport utility vehicle), the Zeekr 9X.
Zeekr announced the move on Wednesday through its official social media channels. Customers who place a reservation can enjoy limited-time pre-sales benefits worth up to 90,000 yuan ($13,230), including a complimentary Naim sound system and electric running boards.
A 5,000 yuan deposit can be applied toward a 10,000 yuan deduction on the final purchase payment. The pre-sales price of the five-seat version has not yet been announced.
The addition of the five-seat version gives the Zeekr 9X a new option alongside its existing six-seat layout, helping the flagship hybrid model reach a broader range of premium buyers.
The timing also echoes rivals’ moves. Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) has already opened reservations for the five-seat version of its large SUV, the ES8, with the official launch event scheduled for the evening of July 9 Beijing Time.
The Zeekr 9X, which officially went on sale in September 2025 with a starting price of 465,900 yuan, is the Zeekr brand’s first hybrid model.
The model is built on the super hybrid variant of Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA), known as SEA-S, and adopts a full-stack 900-volt hybrid high-voltage system.
Its high-end versions feature a tri-motor megawatt electric drive system with a peak output of up to 1,030 kilowatts (1,381 hp). Backed by this powerful drivetrain, the full-size luxury SUV can accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.1 seconds.
The Zeekr 9X is a pivotal model in the brand’s push into the luxury car market, with cumulative deliveries exceeding 60,000 units.
As of May, the model had topped sales charts for China’s large SUVs in the 500,000 yuan class for seven consecutive months, according to information previously released by Zeekr.
In the segment above 500,000 yuan, one in every three luxury vehicles sold was a Zeekr 9X, the company said last month.
In the first five months of this year, the Zeekr 9X delivered a cumulative 40,487 units, including 8,441 units in May alone, according to data compiled by CnEVPost. The model delivered 10,191 units in March 2026, its highest monthly total to date.

This momentum has also helped underpin the growth of the Zeekr brand as a whole. In June, Zeekr delivered 35,169 vehicles, up 110.57% year-on-year, a record monthly high.
In the first half of the year, Zeekr delivered a cumulative 178,370 units, up 96.57% year-on-year. As of the end of June, the brand’s cumulative deliveries had reached 821,259 units.
In the second half of the year, Zeekr plans to take its 9-series dual flagships overseas. The Zeekr 9X will officially enter overseas markets in the third quarter.
The 8X, Zeekr’s second hybrid model, starts at a price significantly lower than its previous pre-sales price.
