The McLaren 750S is officially nearing the end of the road. McLaren has confirmed that production of its V8-powered supercar will conclude in 2027, with final orders now being accepted. That brings an end not just to the 750S itself, but to a hugely important chapter that began with the 720S nearly a decade ago. For enthusiasts, this one feels bigger than a typical model change because the 750S represents the final refinement of one of McLaren’s best modern supercar formulas.

Introduced for the 2024 model year, the 750S took everything that made the 720S so impressive and sharpened it further. McLaren revised roughly 30% of the car, reduced weight, retuned the suspension, changed transmission calibration, improved aerodynamics, and gave the interior a more driver-focused layout. Its 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 produces 740 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, sending everything to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. With a claimed dry weight of just 2,815 pounds, the result is a supercar that has always felt more interested in speed, feedback, and agility than chasing technology for technology’s sake.

The lineage itself is worth remembering. The 720S arrived in 2017 and quickly established itself as one of the benchmarks of the modern supercar world, combining devastating acceleration with remarkably usable road manners. It later spawned the hardcore 765LT before evolving into the 750S. McLaren has now taken the formula to its logical extreme with the limited-production 788HS, a 777-horsepower sendoff featuring more aggressive aerodynamics, lighter components, center-lock wheels, and extensive McLaren Special Operations involvement. Just 200 examples of the 788HS will be built, split evenly between coupe and Spider versions.

What makes the end of the 750S especially interesting is what it says about McLaren’s future. The company is going through a significant transformation under new ownership and is expected to broaden its product range well beyond the traditional two-seat supercar. Reports point to a future mid-engine hybrid coupe, additional grand touring products, and even a high-performance SUV designed to compete in the same rarefied space as the Ferrari Purosangue. McLaren has also introduced a refreshed corporate identity as it prepares for this next phase.

That leaves the 750S standing as something of a marker between two eras. Its successor will almost certainly be faster and more technologically advanced, but the outgoing car captures a particular period in McLaren history when a lightweight carbon-fiber chassis, a brutally powerful twin-turbo V8, rear-wheel drive, and clever hydraulic suspension were enough to create one of the most exciting road cars money could buy. Production may continue into 2027, but the countdown has officially started. For anyone who has always wanted a new 750S, this is effectively the last call.
