- Xpeng GX delivered 6,739 units in June, with the 10,000th vehicle rolling off the line on July 1.
- GX output will rise 10% this month, and Xpeng expects the SUV to break into the segment’s top three in the fourth quarter.
Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) is accelerating the production ramp-up of its flagship GX SUV (sport utility vehicle) as it fights for a bigger share of the premium market.
He Xiaopeng, chairman and CEO of the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker, said on Friday that GX output will rise 10% this month.
Speaking in an interview with Cailian, he said GX sales are on track to challenge for the segment’s top three by the fourth quarter.
The GX officially went on sale in China on May 20, with a limited-time starting price of 269,800 yuan ($39,740).
The vehicle offers both battery-electric and extended-range powertrains, and firm orders topped 24,000 in the first 12 hours after its launch.
June was the GX’s first full month of deliveries, with 6,739 units handed over, according to data Xpeng released on July 1. The 10,000th vehicle rolled off the line on July 1.
The GX ramp-up was one of the main drivers behind Xpeng’s June delivery rebound. The company delivered 40,126 vehicles last month, a record monthly high for 2026 so far.
The figure marked a 15.93% year-on-year increase, ending five straight months of annual declines.
Overseas demand for the GX has also exceeded expectations. Mr. He disclosed early last month that the model had drawn about 1,000 reservations without any overseas pricing being announced.
Those orders came mainly from the Middle East market. He said at least four major overseas regions have demand for the model.
He said the current priority is to fulfill deliveries at home. The GX will later enter overseas markets, making its debut and opening pre-sales in the Middle East first.
Mr. He also revealed that the Xpeng Mona L03 SUV, which made its debut yesterday, broke the company’s record for pre-orders over a comparable period across all its models.
He said top-spec versions account for the vast majority of Mona L03 orders. The low-priced SUV starts at a pre-sales price of 143,800 yuan, with its official launch set for July 16.
The Mona L03 and the GX together form the key new-model lineup behind Xpeng’s push for higher sales in the second half.
Deutsche Bank analysts expect the Mona L03 to average about 12,500 units in monthly sales, replicating the success of the Mona M03 sedan.
