- Xiaomi YU7 GT set the world’s first autonomous-driving lap record at the Nürburgring with a time of 10 minutes, 29.483 seconds.
- The time is about three minutes slower than the production-SUV record previously set by a professional driver.
Xiaomi (HKEX: 1810) announced on Monday that its high-performance electric sport utility vehicle (SUV), the YU7 GT, set the world’s first autonomous-driving lap record at Germany’s Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit.
The vehicle completed the track in 10 minutes, 29.483 seconds, marking a public technical demonstration of intelligent-driving capabilities in a production car.
The time is about 3 minutes and 7 seconds slower than the fastest lap set by a professional racing driver. In May this year, Xiaomi announced that the YU7 GT, driven by a professional driver, had set a new Nürburgring production-SUV record with a time of 7 minutes, 22.755 seconds.
Xiaomi described the autonomous lap as “a new starting point rather than an end point,” suggesting the company intends to push the performance boundaries of its intelligent-driving system further.
The Nürburgring Nordschleife stretches about 20.8 kilometers and is known for its dense corners and complex terrain. The circuit is regarded within the industry as the ultimate proving ground for vehicle handling and chassis performance.
Having a production SUV complete a full lap relying entirely on autonomous driving is a comprehensive test of perception, decision-making and execution systems.
The YU7 GT was officially launched on May 21 and is positioned by Xiaomi as a sports-car-grade SUV. Its starting price in China is 389,900 yuan ($57,580), with the fully loaded version priced at 429,900 yuan.
The vehicle is equipped with the new-generation Xiaomi Super Motor V8s EVO. Its dual-motor system delivers a combined maximum power of 738 kilowatts, equivalent to 1,003 Ps.
The YU7 GT accelerates from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in just 2.92 seconds and has a top speed of 300 kilometers per hour.
The car features a 101.7-kilowatt-hour ternary lithium battery, with a CLTC range of 705 kilometers.
Built on an 897-volt silicon-carbide high-voltage platform, it can recharge up to 570 kilometers of range in 15 minutes.
Xiaomi delivered 32,759 vehicles in May, up 16.94% year-on-year but down 10.74% from April.

Xiaomi adopted an aggressive product-expansion strategy in late May. In addition to launching the premium GT model, the company also released a new lower-priced standard version of the YU7 with a starting price of 233,500 yuan.
Strong delivery performance is crucial to Xiaomi’s automotive business. The company’s innovative businesses, including EV and AI, posted an operating loss of 3.1 billion yuan in the first quarter.
Xiaomi has set its full-year 2026 vehicle-delivery target at 550,000 units, a goal that represents an increase of about 34% from the roughly 410,000 vehicles delivered in 2025.
The Nürburgring autonomous-driving record is seen as a piece of brand marketing and a technical statement by Xiaomi in the intelligent-driving field. In China’s fiercely competitive premium electric-vehicle market, smart driving capabilities are increasingly becoming a key selling point.
The Xiaomi YU7 GT starts at 389,900 yuan ($57,290) and is aimed at the premium market.
