The Passion S, a new coupe SUV (sport utility vehicle) from Voyah Automotive (HKEX: 7489), the premium subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor, will open for pre-sales in late July.
Voyah released images of the Passion S in a red exterior finish on Monday and announced the pre-sales plan. The company described the new vehicle as a four-LiDAR driving-focused SUV.
The Passion S is a mid to large-size all-electric coupe SUV featuring a sporty fastback stance. It measures 5,050 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,656 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm.
Voyah said the model ensures ample interior passenger space while maintaining a sporty exterior appearance.
The Passion S will be equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 5 driver assistance system and feature a Huawei 896-channel LiDAR, according to previously released information. The four-LiDAR version it offers is relatively rare among vehicles in its class.
The model comes with up to 32 sensing hardware units across the vehicle, providing the hardware foundation for high-level intelligent assisted driving.
With the support of Huawei’s Qiankun intelligent assisted driving system, the 896-channel LiDAR is expected to help the vehicle detect tiny obstacles as small as 14 cm high from 120 meters away, according to information previously released by Huawei.
The Passion S is available in rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive versions. The rear-wheel-drive model is equipped with a drive motor with a peak power of 300 kW (402 hp).
The four-wheel-drive model adopts a dual-motor layout with front and rear motors, delivering maximum power of 175 kW and 300 kW respectively, for a combined power of 475 kW (637 hp).
The Passion S looks somewhat like the Ferrari Purosangue, which some have called a so-called FUV (Ferrari Utility Vehicle). The model is designed to compete with the highly popular Xiaomi (HKEX: 1810) YU7.
The Passion S is close in size to the YU7 GT, which was launched in late May. The latter measures 5,015 mm in length, 2,007 mm in width, and 1,597 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm as well.
Voyah shared the first batch of official camouflage-free teaser images of the Passion S on May 22, describing the model as a tech-savvy, dynamic SUV expected to launch around the middle of this year.
The Passion S is an important part of Voyah’s broader business strategy to expand its premium product lineup and boost its market share in 2026.
Before the Passion S, Voyah launched the Taishan X8, a large five-seat SUV, on May 22, with a starting price of 292,900 yuan ($43,080). That model is also equipped with Huawei’s 896-channel LiDAR, along with three additional LiDARs.
Voyah delivered 14,223 vehicles in June, up 41.48% year-on-year and 9.38% month-on-month, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
In the first half of 2026, the company’s cumulative deliveries reached 76,264 units, up 35.88% year-on-year.
