- The milestone comes about a month after the 110,000th third-generation ES8 was delivered on May 23.
- It arrives as Nio prepares to open pre-orders for a five-seat ES8 variant on June 28.
Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) will deliver its 120,000th third-generation ES8 in a matter of hours, further cementing the large electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) as the company’s mainstay model.
Yang Bo, the company’s head of user operations, said on Weibo on Monday that Nio will reach the delivery milestone this afternoon Beijing time.
Yang mentioned the upcoming milestone while introducing the ES8 five-seat variant, for which pre-orders are about to open on June 28.
The milestone highlights the continued strong market momentum of the third-generation ES8. The model reached 110,000 deliveries only on May 23, about a month ago.
The third-generation ES8 was officially launched in September 2025, with a starting price of 406,800 yuan ($60,100). It is a high-margin model and a key factor behind Nio’s recent financial turnaround.
The model has sold strongly since its launch. In May, the ES8 delivered 11,475 units, topping the 10,000 mark for the seventh consecutive month.

Nio ES8 monthly deliveries

In the first five months of this year, the ES8’s cumulative deliveries reached 69,690 units. That accounted for 46.30% of Nio Inc’s total deliveries over the same period, underscoring its central role in the company’s product lineup.
Qin Lihong, Nio’s co-founder and president, said earlier this month that the new ES8 was expected to reach 120,000 deliveries within June. The upcoming milestone today fulfills that expectation.
The third-generation ES8 currently on sale is a large three-row SUV, offered in six-seat and seven-seat versions. The upcoming five-seat version will further broaden the model’s customer reach.
Nio said the five-seat ES8 will lead premium large five-seat SUVs into the all-electric era. The company has yet to disclose further details on pricing or specifications.
Qin previously said the five-seat ES8 will be launched in early July, with deliveries to begin around the same time. That aligns with the company’s recent cadence of intensive new product launches.
The five-seat version is being introduced as Nio seeks to boost overall sales through new products. The higher-priced flagship SUV ES9 was officially launched on May 27, with a starting price of 498,000 yuan.
With the expansion of the ES8 lineup and the ramp-up of the ES9, Nio is concentrating its resources to ensure the continuation of its sales momentum.
Nio will bring the five-seat ES8 to showrooms on June 28, opening pre-orders the same day.
