Mercedes-Benz is heading to the movies this winter, announcing a collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation’s upcoming theatrical release GOAT, set to hit theaters globally in February 2026. The film takes place in an all-animal world and follows Will, a young goat chasing a seemingly impossible dream of going pro in a high-intensity sport called roar ball, and Mercedes is leaning into that underdog energy with a simple message: “There is a place for those who dream.”

For car people, the fun part is the on-screen garage. Mercedes says three vehicles will appear throughout the movie: the all-new CLA 250+ with EQ Technology, the all-new electric GLC (with provisional efficiency figures), and the ever-familiar Sprinter van. It is an interesting mix that blends aspirational with everyday utility, which is exactly how product placement works best when it feels like part of the world instead of a wink at the camera.

Mercedes is not stopping at in-film appearances either. A dedicated campaign runs from January through March 2026, built around a 30-second spot and a full spread of cutdowns for streaming, TV, digital, and theatrical placements. The concept is built around a kid leaving the cinema buzzing from GOAT, with imagination bleeding into the ride home in a CLA, which is a pretty classic recipe for making an ad feel like a short story instead of a spec sheet.

What makes this partnership feel timely is where Mercedes is putting its chips right now. The company is positioning the CLA and electric GLC as key players in its biggest product launch program to date, and that is easier to sell when the cars are shown as characters in a story rather than just transportation. In a family-friendly animated film, you also get a built-in stage for themes like safety, comfort, and daily usability, the stuff that actually convinces people to try an EV.

Mercedes also used the announcement to remind everyone that the new CLA is already stacking up accolades, including being named “Car of the Year 2026” and earning “Best Performer” recognition in Euro NCAP testing. Those are the kinds of bragging rights that tend to get lost in the noise of constant EV news, so tying them to a pop-culture moment is a smart way to broaden the audience beyond the usual enthusiasts.

As for GOAT itself, the movie has a strong pedigree on paper. It comes from Sony Pictures Animation, with Tyree Dillihay directing and Adam Rosette co-directing, and it is produced by a team that includes Stephen Curry, who also voices a character. The cast list is stacked with familiar names, and the premise sounds like the kind of energetic sports comedy that plays well in a theater, especially with its February timing.

In the end, this is less about a single film cameo and more about how car brands market in 2026. Mercedes is using entertainment to make its newest vehicles feel present in everyday life and in imagination, which is exactly where modern EV branding needs to live. If GOAT connects the way Sony and Mercedes think it will, expect to see a lot more collaborations like this where the car is not the hero, but it is definitely part of the adventure.
