- Li Auto will roll out the new-generation Li L6 in July, a redesign of its entry-level extended-range SUV.
- Deliveries of the current Li L6 plunged 73% in May, partly as consumers held off purchases to wait for the new model.
Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) will launch a redesigned version of its Li L6 extended-range sport utility vehicle (SUV) in July, refreshing one of its entry-level and best-selling models.
Li Xinyang, head of the company’s product line, shared the timeline on Weibo on Tuesday. He said consumers interested in the new model can now contact a product specialist to be among the first to get launch and in-store information.
“The new-generation Li L6 will meet everyone in July,” Li said.
The redesigned model had earlier appeared in a regulatory catalog released last month by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Its body dimensions remain unchanged, measuring 4,935 mm long, 1,960 mm wide and 1,735 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm.
The updated Li L6 retains the family-style full-width light bar, but the front bumper drops the one-piece full-width design, and the size of the lower grille has been enlarged.
The body also switches to semi-hidden door handles and newly styled wheels, while the interior of the tail lights has been darkened.
The updated Li L6 continues to be equipped with a 1.5T turbocharged range extender with a maximum engine power of 113 kW, and upgrades the battery capacity to 51 kWh.
The current Li L6 is the lowest-priced of Li Auto’s L-series extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) models, offered in Pro and Max configurations with starting prices of 249,800 yuan ($36,970) and 279,800 yuan, respectively.
The L6 redesign is a key step in Li Auto’s comprehensive update of its L-series extended-range models.
The company launched the redesigned Li L9 on May 15, and will roll out the all-new Li L8 — which changes from six seats to five — on June 23.
The company has yet to announce update plans for the Li L7, which was last refreshed in May 2025, alongside the other L-series models.
The arrival of the new-generation Li L6 comes as demand for the current model is under significant pressure.
As consumers generally held off while waiting for the new model, the Li L6 delivered only 4,983 units in May, down 73.47% year-on-year, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

Li Auto as a whole also faces pressure on sales and profitability. The company delivered a total of 33,350 vehicles in May, down 18.37% year-on-year.
In the first quarter of this year, the company unexpectedly recorded a net loss of 2.3 billion yuan, with its gross margin plunging to 7.9% from 20.5% a year earlier.
Still, the initial market response to the redesigned models has been relatively positive.
The all-new Li L9, launched on May 15, secured more than 10,000 firm orders for its premium Livis version within two weeks of going on sale, according to Li Auto.
Li Xiang said at a small-scale shareholder meeting that gross margin is all the money and ammunition the company can spend.
