- The new LS6 is initially available for pre-sales in 3 all-electric versions, starting at 209,900 yuan ($30,970), with a CLTC range of up to 782 km.
- The model is the latest addition under IM Motors’ “NEXT·2028” strategy, following the launch of the updated L6 sedan on August 28.
IM Motors, the electric vehicle brand of SAIC Motor (SSE: 600104), opened pre-sales for the new-generation LS6 on Thursday, upgrading chassis technology and cabin features to compete with Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model Y for family buyers.
The pre-sales lineup comprises 3 all-electric versions — Max, Pro Max and Ultra — priced at 209,900 yuan ($30,970), 229,900 yuan and 264,900 yuan, respectively.
The LS6 is a key sales contributor for IM Motors. The new model is the latest product under the brand’s “NEXT·2028” strategy, following the updated IM L6 sedan launched on August 28.
Shortly after the pre-sales event ended, IM Motors announced that the model had received more than 8,000 pre-orders in the first 45 minutes.
The new LS6 comes standard with an 800-volt high-voltage electric platform, a fully by-wire chassis and the IM Claw AI agent, bringing the brand’s latest technologies to the 5-seat SUV (sport utility vehicle) market.
The chassis is a central selling point of the upgrade. Standard features include steer-by-wire, brake-by-wire and a four-wheel steering system with bidirectional 18-degree steering capability. IM Motors said the vehicle has a low-speed turning radius of 4.79 meters.
The company compares the technology to aircraft fly-by-wire systems and is promoting the model as drawing on aviation technology. The Ultra version also features air suspension and electronically controlled adaptive damping.
The Max and Pro Max both use rear-wheel drive, with 76-kWh and 93-kWh batteries delivering CLTC ranges of 650 kilometers and 782 kilometers, respectively. They can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 6.4 seconds and 5.4 seconds.
The Ultra features dual-motor all-wheel drive and a 103-kWh battery, offering a CLTC range of 750 kilometers and a 0-to-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.48 seconds.
Inside the cabin, IM Motors is offering a B&O sound system, a driver’s seat with 4D mechanical massage, a 15.6-inch front passenger entertainment screen and a refrigerator with heating, cooling and dual-side access as free upgrades for a limited time.
The package shows IM Motors is emphasizing comfort alongside handling as another way to attract family buyers.
The vehicle also features the IM AD Zeta driver assistance system. The IM Claw agent integrates Alibaba’s Qwen large language model and AI agent ecosystem, supporting inference of ambiguous user intent and task orchestration across multiple agents.
During pre-sales, customers who pay a refundable deposit of 2,000 yuan can receive a 5,000-yuan purchase credit after locking in their orders at launch. The announced pre-sales prices exclude this incentive, and deposits are refundable before the official launch.
The IM LS6 was first launched in October 2023. A September 2025 update added an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) option for the first time.
The previous LS6’s all-electric versions also started at 209,900 yuan during pre-sales, before the entry price fell to 197,900 yuan at launch. Final pricing for the new model has yet to be announced.
The upgrade will keep the LS6 competing in China’s crowded family SUV market, where its all-electric rivals include the Tesla Model Y and Zeekr 7X.
The LS8, starting at 249,800 yuan ($36,600), secured 8,000 firm orders within 60 minutes.
