Geely Auto’s (HKEX: 0175) Galaxy brand officially launched the Galaxy TT electric sedan on Thursday, with an entry price below its pre-sales level as it competes in China’s electric sedan market.
The mid-to-large-size sedan, designed with a focus on sporty handling, comes in 5 variants with limited-time introductory prices ranging from 129,900 yuan ($19,170) to 185,900 yuan.
The lineup’s starting price is 16,000 yuan, or nearly 11%, below the 145,900 yuan announced when pre-sales began in August. The entry-level variant’s CLTC range has also increased to 640 km from 540 km at pre-sale.
The launch lineup comprises 4 rear-wheel-drive variants and 1 Ultra all-wheel-drive variant, offering CLTC ranges of 640 km, 725 km and 650 km.
The 3 rear-wheel-drive variants with a 640-km range cost 129,900 yuan, 139,900 yuan and 149,900 yuan, respectively. The 725-km rear-wheel-drive flagship variant is priced at 159,900 yuan.
The Ultra costs 185,900 yuan, below its pre-sales price of 209,800 yuan announced in July.
All Galaxy TT variants come standard with an 800-volt high-voltage platform and customized Shenxing TT lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries from CATL (HKEX: 3750), supporting 6C fast charging.
The 3 variants with a 640-km range use a 63.8-kWh battery, while the 725-km variant has a 75.2-kWh pack. Charging from 10% to 80% takes 11.8 minutes and 11.6 minutes, respectively.
All 4 rear-wheel-drive variants feature a single motor with a maximum output of 245 kW (329 hp) and peak torque of 320 Nm. Each can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds.
The Ultra features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system with a combined output of 425 kW, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.8 seconds. It has a 75.2-kWh battery and a CLTC range of 650 km.
The Galaxy TT measures 4,999 mm in length, 1,919 mm in width and 1,479 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm. It features fastback styling and an active rear spoiler.
All variants come standard with an all-aluminum front double-wishbone suspension and a rear five-link independent suspension. Some variants also offer CCD variable-damping suspension to enhance handling.
For driver assistance, all variants except the entry-level model are equipped with LiDAR. The Galaxy TT offers Geely Afari Smart Driving (G-ASD) H5 or H7 systems.
The H5 system uses Horizon Robotics’s (HKEX: 9660) J6M chip, while the H7 uses Nvidia’s Thor-U chip. Available functions include urban and highway navigation on autopilot (NOA), parking-space-to-parking-space driving assistance and automatic parking.
The cabin features the Flyme Auto 2 system and Super Eva AI agent, alongside a 10.2-inch instrument display, a 15.4-inch central touchscreen and a 25.6-inch augmented-reality head-up display (AR-HUD).
The sedan also offers a 23-speaker audio system and comfort features including seat massage, ventilation and heating.
The Galaxy TT expands Galaxy’s electric sedan lineup as Geely faces pressure in its domestic business while overseas sales grow rapidly.
Geely Auto sold 270,194 vehicles in August, up 8.01% year-on-year and a new high for the year, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
Exports rose 205% year-on-year to 110,094 vehicles, accounting for about 41% of total sales. That implies domestic sales of 160,100 vehicles for the month, down about 25% year-on-year.
Galaxy is a key pillar of Geely’s business. The brand sold 119,115 vehicles in August, up 7.63% year-on-year and 10.50% from July.
