Hyundai’s Massive Plan For 100 New/Updated Models Could Leave Toyota In The Dust

So, do you remember when Hyundai set that monthly sales record? Not that one, the other one. No, the other other one. And what about the quarterly record? Hyundai has been setting lots of sales records, and that’s putting it mildly. Now, we have a glimpse of what the South Korean automaker plans to do with all that revenue.

Spoiler alert: the company is launching one of the most ambitious product blitzes we’ve ever seen. How ambitious? Get ready for over 100 new or updated models globally, and it’s happening in a very short time frame.

A Long Way To Go, And A Short Time To Get There

Hyundai Jose Munoz 2026 Investor DayHyundai

It’s not every day a company announces such an aggressive product plan, but Hyundai certainly has the momentum to pull it off. As of August 1, Hyundai has sold 533,048 vehicles in the US, up 3% from last year. July 2026 set an all-time sales record, and yes, the company is on track to set an all-time yearly record. And this is just in the US. Globally, Hyundai Motor has delivered two million wholesale units, generating nearly $70 billion in revenue.

That’s the catalyst for launching so many new or updated models, but this isn’t some decade-long endeavor. Hyundai is doing this by 2030, which is just four years as we glance at the calendar. Basic math tells us that’s 25 launches a year, or an average of two per month. This could be quite a ride.

“Our fundamentals have never been stronger. Hyundai Motor Group is the third-largest automotive group and the second-most profitable, which gives us the ability to invest while others are pulling back. We are bringing more than 100 new models to market by 2030 with multiple powertrain options and raising our operating margin above 9 percent. We are leveraging partnerships to scale new technologies and opportunities and becoming a physical AI company which will produce and deploy robots and robotaxis.”

-Jose Munoz, Hyundai Motor Company President and CEO

How Is Hyundai Going To Pull This Off?

    2027 Hyundai Tucson ExteriorHyundai

Speaking at Hyundai’s 2026 Investor Day conference, company President and CEO Jose Munoz outlined some specifics of the product blitz. North America will see the most action with 58 launches planned by 2030. We’re already seeing some of that with the new Palisade, Ioniq 9, and most recently, the new 2027 Tucson. A new Elantra and Tucson are on-deck, and Hyundai will enter the extended-range EV market with a new version of the Santa Fe arriving in the first half of 2027.

In Hyundai’s home market of Korea, 49 new or updated models are planned. Europe will see 41 debuts, with 26 coming to India and 22 in China. Aside from the aforementioned models, Hyundai mentions a new A-segment electric SUV for India, a B-segment SUV for Europe, and another B-segment SUV for global markets. Beyond that, Hyundai is ready to expand its performance aspirations with more N models, with a goal of selling 100,000 units a year.

One cannot simply pump out more vehicles without more manufacturing capabilities. In the US, Hyundai is increasing capacity at its Alabama plant by 200,000 units and will source 80% of its parts locally, no doubt to help combat potential tariffs. It’s part of a planned 500,000-unit increase for North America, while around the world in India, capacity will be bumped by 320,000 units. Increases in Europe and Korea are also planned, and when the dust settles, Hyundai expects to add 1.27 million units of global capacity by 2030.

    But Wait, There’s More

    Boston Dynamics Atlas (Hyundai)Boston Dynamics

Lest we forget, Hyundai has full ownership of robotics giant Boston Dynamics. The company is full-speed ahead in developing AI robotics for commercialization, taking the fight to Tesla’s Optimus. Hyundai’s Robot Metaplant Application Center just opened in June, and it is slated for rapid expansion by the end of the year. Barring any unforeseen disruptions (or an apocalyptic AI robot revolution), Hyundai’s industrial humanoid robot named Atlas will be deployed in 2028.

Similarly, Hyundai’s robotaxi plans are rolling along. The first Ioniq 5 robotaxis for Waymo are slated for delivery in the fourth quarter of this year, and there are plans to expand that internationally starting as early as 2027. Human buyers in search of cars will have expanded options on Amazon Autos starting next year, as the program shifts from US-only to other markets around the world.

And of course Hyundai is working on all kinds of AI expansion for its future generation of software-defined vehicles. The company anticipates a sharp rise in gathering autonomous driving data, and plans to launch a 100-megawatt AI data center in South Korea to catch ’em all, if you will.

So yeah, Hyundai will be very busy for the next four years. Will all of this come to fruition? Only time will tell.

CarBuzz Insight – Why This Matters:

Jose Munoz Hyundai Investor Day 2026Hyundai

There’s no question that Hyundai is winning at just about everything right now, and the company is making the most of its success. We have seen some hints that all may not be quite as rosy as Hyundai paints it, though. We recall just a few years ago how Hyundai was really pushing its flying car ambitions, and that’s apparently dried up. Could something similar happen with its robotics investment?

As long as Hyundai doesn’t get too distracted by such endeavors and stays focused on cars, it’s quite possible 2030 could see a new global automotive leader in sales. Hyundai is already closing in on the title in the US. The next few years will be interesting, to say the least.
