- The Maextro V800 is poised to become China’s first MPV with a price tag reaching 1 million yuan ($147,600).
- Huawei’s HIMA will also release a Grand Design version of the Maextro S800 sedan.
Huawei-backed luxury auto brand Maextro will debut its first MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), the V800, on June 25, further expanding its premium lineup.
Huawei’s HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) announced the plan on Tuesday on social media platform Weibo, with an event set to begin at 7 pm that evening.
The Maextro V800 is positioned as an “ultra-premium MPV.” According to earlier media reports, the vehicle will target the ultra-high-end market and is poised to become the first local MPV with a price tag reaching 1 million yuan ($147,600).
Richard Yu, chairman of Huawei’s consumer business group, shared the V800’s official announcement video earlier this month. At the time, he said the vehicle aims to “explore a new ultra-premium MPV mobility experience.”
Based on the official images released so far, the new vehicle features a two-tone color scheme resembling champagne gold and brown, paired with a long-hood design. The front headlight clusters carry over the design language of the Maextro S800.
The most eye-catching feature is the large logo at the center of the front fascia, creating a strong visual focal point. Vertical taillights combined with large chrome trim strips lend the vehicle a commanding presence.
The new vehicle will be equipped with an illuminated emblem, a retractable and interactive starry-sky roof, crystal wall lights, and “star-picking” door handles, among other features.
Previously released filing information shows the Maextro V800 measures 5,495 mm in length, 2,006 mm in width and 1,850 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,430 mm. Its curb weight reaches 3,120 to 3,190 kilograms.
In terms of powertrain, the vehicle is equipped with a 1.5T engine serving as a range extender, with a maximum output of 127 kW. The peak power of the front and rear drive motors is 160 kW and 230 kW, respectively.
Maextro is a brand jointly developed by Huawei and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group Corp (JAC), under Huawei’s HIMA business segment.
The V800’s upcoming debut builds on the initial success of the Maextro’s first model, the S800. The latter has become key to the brand’s breakthrough into the premium market.
Yu noted on May 14 that cumulative deliveries of the standard Maextro S800 had surpassed 17,000 units, ranking first in China’s ultra-luxury sedan sales for vehicles priced above 700,000 yuan for eight consecutive months.
Notably, at the launch event on June 25, HIMA will also release a Grand Design version of the Maextro S800. It shares the same dimensions as the regular Maextro S800 but features a two-tone exterior design in silver and teal.
Maextro will launch SUV and MPV models next year, each available in both standard and long wheelbase versions, according to a local media report.
