Hennessey’s New Ram Super Truck Could Be Faster Than A Ferrari F40

Only the truly insane could look at the 777-horsepower Ram 1500 Rumble Bee SRT and think, “Boy, I wish it had a little more grunt.” Luckily, there’s a group of people like that near Houston, Texas, and they all work for a mental asylum called Hennessey Performance. The tuner’s newest super truck, called the Maximus, will take the Rumble Bee to a new level with power and performance we’ve never seen in a pickup truck before.

    Breaking Two Big Barriers

Hennessey Maximus Ram SRT Rumble Bee TeaserHennessey

Hennessey let loose very few details about its upcoming truck, except to say that the supercharged Hellcat V8 under the hood would produce 1,000 hp. That sounds suspiciously like the 2024 Ram 1500 TRX–based Mammoth off-roader, which received a new, higher-flow supercharger and revised engine calibrations, with a total of 1,012 horses and 969 pound-feet of torque as a result. Considering the Mammoth started from a 702-hp version of the Hellcat – compared to the 777 in the new Rumble Bee SRT – the Hennessey Maximus could have even more hustle at its disposal.

What’s more, the company is anticipating a top speed of 200 miles per hour for its new sport truck, an insane statistic that would put it in front of the modern Porsche 911 Carrera GTS and Mercedes-AMG GT 63 and within spitting distance of the McLaren Artura and Ferrari 296 GTB. It also eclipses such supercar legends as the original Ferrari F40 and Porsche 959 (and even the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat). Considering the supercharged V8 has to motivate more than 6,000 pounds of brick-shaped truck through the air, a top speed of 200 is damned impressive.

The Hennessey Maximus could very well break two important records for pickups. Although its Mammoth sibling currently holds the title for the most powerful tuner truck ever made, the lowered and modernized sport truck could knock the off-roader off the top spot. Furthermore, although the 170-plus-mph Rumble Bee SRT is poised to finally take down the top speed record of its distant Ram SRT-10 ancestor – which hit 154 mph – the Maximus will be faster still, giving it the Vmax record for a street-legal pickup. Not even the 785-hp Shelby F-150 Super Snake or Brabus XLP 800 6×6 will be able to catch it.

    A Houston Heavyweight

Pricing for the Hennessey Maximus hasn’t been announced yet, but considering the bog-standard Ram 1500 Rumble Bee SRT will be nearly $98,000 with destination, expect pricing in the low six figures. The TRX-based Mammoth cost more than $150,000 when new, so plan on spending at least that much on the Maximus. The sport truck will go into production before spring 2027, so we expect customer deliveries to start by summer.

CarBuzz Insight – Why This Matters:

Given the current state of the economy and the ever-rising price of a gallon of gas, a $150,000 sport truck that’ll be lucky if it gets 12 mpg in normal driving probably isn’t too relevant to most consumers. But there’s no denying the emotional excitement that comes with record-breaking performance, especially if you’re lucky enough to see one bellow down Woodward Avenue on a warm summer night. Speaking of, the Hennessey Maximus will debut in pre-production form at Roadkill Nights during the Woodward Dream Cruise, the same event that brought us the 2027 Dodge Charger Superbee. We’ll be there to see it and bring you more details as we get them.
