Chrysler’s Hot New Pacifica Concept Begs For A Hellcat Engine

Say what you will about Chrysler, but the company sure knows how to make a cool minivan. Even way back in the 1980s, when Chrysler wasn’t just a brand but the conglomerate known as Chrysler Corporation, its minivans were cool. And then came SUVs, which stole the minivan’s cool factor, and you know the story from there. But clearly, Chrysler isn’t done writing the minivan story. And we are so thankful for that.

That’s because Chrysler, the brand with just one vehicle right now, is showing just how cool that one vehicle can be. And you know what? It can be very, very cool. Feast your eyes on the VANkulture Pacifica Concept, one of two snazzy minivans revealed during Roadkill Nights in Michigan.

Everything But A Hemi Under The Hood

To be clear, this arrest-me-red Pacifica is just a concept, built in collaboration with VANkulture. And sadly, we know a Pacifica Hellcat will never happen. However, this concept isn’t some radical reimagining of a future vehicle with a bespoke body and a nonexistent powertrain. If you really wanted to have one in your garage – and we kinda do – it would take a little bit of wrenching for the mechanical upgrades and a plea to VIS Racing to make the body kit seen here.

Specifically, the VIS Racing aero package adds side skirts, a custom front lip, a roof spoiler, and arguably the pièce de résistance here, a modest diffuser affixed to the rear fascia. It makes room for BMW M-style quad exhaust outlets, and they aren’t just for show. They’re the finishing touches of a MagnaFlow exhaust system that we wish was connected to a Hemi V8, but alas, we’re getting ahead of ourselves here.

The red exterior isn’t a custom paint job. It’s an Arvex satin PPF wrap, highlighted with black accents in places like the door handles and mirrors. The 2027 Pacifica redesign is made even more menacing with smoked headlights, and it all rides on 20-inch Vossen wheels.

Behind them are big brakes, measuring 15.4 inches in front with eight-piston calipers. 14.0-inch rotors with four-piston clampers are at the back. And yes, it’s slammed thanks to an adjustable coilover suspension kit. This Pacifica is 2.5 inches lower than the one your neighbor drives.

What About The Other Pacifica Concept?

The second Pacifica concept doesn’t have quite the same visual punch as the VANkulture. It also has a less imaginative name, simply called the Pacifica Concept. However, of the two, this is the one a bit easier to make yourself to help stand out in the crowd. Starting with a Pacifica Limited with the S package and red seat belts, it gets 21-inch wheels, black brake calipers, and low-gloss matte exterior over-the-top stripes. They’re very subtle, but they are there.

This concept van also sits a bit lower, though it’s not as aggressive as the VANkulture build. The drop here is just an inch, but Chrysler doesn’t say exactly what’s changed to get there. However, Chrysler does state the Pacifica Concept has “a custom look straight from the factory.” While there currently aren’t any Pacifica upgrades available through Mopar or Direct Connection, we find that phrasing to be quite curious to say the least.

“Pacifica has always been about making life easier for families, and these two concepts show customers can make their minivan their own, stand out and have some fun,” said Chrysler CEO Matt McAlear. “One-third of Pacifica buyers already choose the S Appearance Package because they want a more custom look. These concepts take that idea a step further, showing how Pacifica can give customers more room to personalize and customize their minivan.”

CarBuzz Insight – Why This Matters:

For all that’s changing with the Stellantis brands in North America, Chrysler still has just one vehicle: the Pacifica. And despite its new face, this is still a 10-year-old platform. That’s not a good formula for a successful car company, so until some new models finally arrive, Chrysler needs to do something to keep potential buyers interested.

Fortunately, Chrysler has Dodge to learn some lessons from, and that’s exactly what is happening here. The Dodge Durango is ancient, but it’s still selling well because Dodge makes an effort to keep it interesting. Sharing a couple reality-based Pacifica concepts to go along with the 2027 facelift is a page straight from Dodge’s playbook, showing buyers something that looks exciting while still being practical for a family.

The big question now… does Chrysler have some plans to offer Pacifica upgrades, either as packages or through Direct Connection? A sporty minivan with big brakes and sharp styling could be just the injection Chrysler needs until the new Airflow arrives.
