ChargePoint is expanding its partnership with charge point operator Optimus Energy Solutions to install more than 200 new public EV charging ports across the southeastern US.

ChargePoint will provide the charging hardware, software, and related services, while Optimus Energy Solutions will own and operate the sites.

The new chargers will be installed in high-demand locations throughout the region, with many headed to quick-service restaurants and retail centers. The buildout comes as EV adoption continues to grow across the Southeast, where public charging infrastructure has historically lagged behind other parts of the US.

“Expanding access to reliable EV charging infrastructure is critical to accelerating the transition to electric mobility,” said ChargePoint CEO Rick Wilmer. “Together, we are enabling a more seamless charging experience for drivers across the eastern US.”

In February, ChargePoint reported that 190,000 additional charging ports became available on its network in 2025. However, utilization growth still outpaced new port growth by nearly 20%. In other words, more drivers are competing for each charger. The company asserted that EV charger installation rates need to accelerate to avoid bottlenecks.
