    • BYD has launched the 2026 Song Pro DM-i SUV, Song L DM-i hybrid SUV, and Qin L DM-i hybrid sedan, introducing upgrades including longer battery range.
    • These models target the RMB 100,000 to RMB 150,000 market segment.

BYD (HKG: 1211) has refreshed three hybrid models from its popular Song and Qin lineups to counter fierce competition in the Chinese market, particularly from Geely Auto’s (HKG: 0175) sub-brand Geely Galaxy.

The new energy vehicle (NEV) maker launched the 2026 Song Pro DM-i hybrid SUV, Song L DM-i hybrid SUV, and Qin L DM-i hybrid sedan at an event today, introducing upgrades including longer battery range.

The 2026 Song Pro DM-i offers three variants starting at RMB 102,800 ($14,430), RMB 112,800, and RMB 125,800.

BYD offers a RMB 3,000 trade-in subsidy for the model, effectively lowering the starting prices to RMB 99,800, RMB 109,800, and RMB 122,800.

All variants boast a battery range of 133 kilometers, achieving a combined range of up to 1,508 kilometers when fully fueled and charged. The previous Song Pro DM-i models offered battery ranges of 75 or 115 kilometers.

The vehicle measures 4,735 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 1,690 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,712 mm. Its predecessor was 1,710 mm tall, with all other dimensions unchanged.

It achieves fuel consumption as low as 3.2 liters per 100 kilometers under NEDC conditions at low charge.

The 2026 Song L DM-i also offers three variants, starting at RMB 139,800, RMB 146,800, and RMB 156,800 respectively.

BYD does not provide trade-in subsidies for the updated Song L DM-i.

Its dimensions are 4,780 mm in length, 1,898 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,782 mm — unchanged from its predecessor.

The updated Song L DM-i offers battery ranges of 130 km and 200 km. Its predecessor featured ranges of 75 km, 112 km, and 160 km.

The hybrid SUV achieves fuel consumption as low as 3.4 liters per 100 kilometers under NEDC conditions at low charge.

The 2026 Qin L DM-i comes in two variants, with starting prices of RMB 96,800 and RMB 106,800 respectively. After trade-in subsidies, their starting prices are RMB 92,800 and RMB 102,800.

The hybrid sedan measures 4,830 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,790 mm — unchanged from its predecessor.

The model boasts a battery range of 128 kilometers. With a full tank and fully charged battery, its combined range reaches 2,148 kilometers. Under NEDC conditions, its fuel consumption is as low as 2.79 liters per 100 kilometers at low charge.

The older Qin L DM-i offered battery ranges of 80 km and 120 km.

BYD has largely maintained stable vehicle pricing in China this year, with significantly fewer new models launched compared to last year — key factors contributing to its slower growth.

From January to September, BYD sold 3,260,146 NEVs, marking an 18.64 percent year-on-year increase.

In contrast, major competitor Geely has launched multiple new models with aggressive pricing this year, particularly under its Geely Galaxy sub-brand, such as the M9 hybrid SUV.

Geely sold 2,170,189 vehicles from January to September, up 35.24 percent year-on-year. Geely Galaxy sold 874,985 units during the same period, surging 205.64 percent year-on-year.

    ($1 = RMB 7.1225)

The new Bao 5 variants nearly double battery range, while the Bao 8 adds a five-seat version alongside existing six- and seven-seat options.
