Volkswagen has resurrected the Caravelle nameplate it dropped in 2021 as part of a revamp of its large MPVs. Caravelle replaces Mutivan as the name for the big people carrier, with the California camper van also receiving the same updates to front-end styling, interior quality, equipment and infotainment. The most obvious change is the new, larger LED headlights, including a light bar stretching across the whole front on higher-spec models, and the redesigned front bumper. That’s joined by fresh two-tone paint finishes, combining a candy-white top half with one of grey, brown and sunset red, and a matt grey option, while…
Every generation of the Porsche 911 needs to introduce new innovations and achieve even higher standards than the one before it. When developing the 991-generation Porsche 911, which first hit the road for the 2012 model year, one such innovation would put a world-first piece of hardware in the driver’s right hand: a 7-speed manual transmission. The six-speed manual had long been the standard for performance cars, and a 7-speed box had never been done before. Selling a new manual was no small feat, especially with rising fuel prices and decreasing manual take rates. The business case for offering a…
Automotive Bentley has officially reached another major milestone in the transformation of its Crewe headquarters with the launch of a new state-of-the-art Paint Shop, a facility that promises to expand customization possibilities while advancing the company’s manufacturing capabilities well into the future. The opening of the 12,500-square-meter facility is being celebrated with the debut of an eye-catching new paint technology called Spectraflair, showcased on a one-of-a-kind Bentley Continental GT S finished in an exclusive color known as Spectral Verdant. The new Paint Shop immediately takes over finishing duties for Bentley’s Continental GT, Continental GTC, Flying Spur, and the…
Iconic gummy candy brand HARIBO and its transport partners at Recht Logistik are turning to electric semi trucks to deliver emissions-free shipping across several of its European operations. Part of a larger sustainability initiative from the German candy giant, the deployment of new, battery electric Mercedes-Benz semi trucks aims to gradually reduce transport-related emissions between the company’s locations in Grafschaft, Neuss, and Eindhoven, Germany – established routes that, according to HARIBO, are ideally suited for electric transport. “The further development of our transport solutions is an important building block in achieving our sustainability goals,” explains Stefan Sorce, Managing Director of HARIBO…
But they didn’t miss the chance to argue over who’s censoring who. Consolidated News Photos/Shutterstock Senators Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) have introduced a bipartisan bill that they said will “hold the government accountable for censorship and violations of the First Amendment.” They’re calling it the Justice Against Weaponized Bureaucratic Overreach to Networked Expression (JAWBONE) Act. They named it after jawboning, an act wherein the government attempts to persuade or pressure private companies into changing their moderation policies or to censor speech. “Americans face significant hurdles in proving these violations,” the senators said in their…
We’ve known for a little while now that Lamborghini has been working on a high-performance version of its Revuelto supercar, probably called Revuelto SV. Lamborghini’s test cars haven’t exactly been subtle, either, having “Attention, Fast Machine” plastered in Italian along the sides. However, not much concrete information has leaked out of the company, so aside from the looks, much of it has been a mystery. That may have changed if the information posted by Instagram account “revueltosv” is to be believed. We may even see the car revealed sooner than expected. Not As Raging Of A Bull As Expected The…
The biggest car news and reviews, no BS Our free daily newsletter sends the stories that really matter directly to you, every weekday. “Be a Hollywood stuntman” is such a perfect premise for a video game. What a great excuse to weave insanely disparate situations into one narrative; obliterate the line between realistic and whimsical. This new trailer for the upcoming Stuntman Hollywood game sells that spectacularly, but even if you’re not into gaming, the clip is deeply satisfying and fun to watch. Check it out: Stuntman: Hollywood – Announce Trailer | PS5 Games I’m sure my fellow millennial, Gen-X,…
The biggest car news and reviews, no BS Our free daily newsletter sends the stories that really matter directly to you, every weekday. Yesterday, the FIA published the most recent changes to the Formula 1 power unit regulations—the second in five weeks. These will shift the current combustion-to-MGUK power split from the targeted 50/50 (technically more like 53/47) to 60/40. However, that split won’t happen this year, nor next year. It will happen in 2028. Is that good enough? The staggered approach is broken down as follows: 53/47 in 2026, 58/42 in 2027, and 60/40 in 2028. ICE max power…
It’s easy to imagine sports cars as coupes and convertibles like the BMW M4. But one can stretch the definition to include sports sedans like the M5, before breaking the definition entirely to include performance SUVs. While some enthusiasts still refuse to consider anything with more than two doors a sports car, the simple truth is that larger vehicles are becoming quicker, faster, and more agile than some two-door models from decades ago ever were. No matter what your opinion is of the current market for high-performance SUVs, they’re here. Audi’s entrant into the quick SUV races is the SQ7.…
This may sound odd, but what makes Julian Thomson – Autocar’s 2026 Design Hero – different from other distinguished car designers is that he remains as keen as he was 40 years ago to get on with designing great cars.By the time they’ve had three or four successful decades in the job, many design greats have become managers and administrators, concerned mostly with what’s happening in some big company’s boardroom.
