Your Roku TV doesn’t look as good as it could when you take it out of the box. Charles-McClintock Wilson/Shutterstock Out of the box, your Roku TV likely doesn’t offer the best possible picture quality. This is because manufacturers often choose default settings to make their TVs stand out amidst a sea of competitors in stores. But with a few adjustments, you can get a more neutral image that looks more lifelike and preserves the artistic intent of whatever you watch. You don’t need any professional display calibration equipment to get the most out of your…
The Drive 🤝 your inbox. Every weekday The Daily Brief wraps up the biggest stories and our exclusive reporting on the auto industry and car culture. I’ve been watching Edison Motors with bated breath for years now. If you ask me, the crew there is doing genuinely exciting work with electrification—in both the heavy-duty and the light-duty truck space. I’ve written about its series-hybrid projects multiple times and even interviewed the CEO, and now, they’ve hit another key milestone: Towing 8,000 pounds with their scratch-built pickup that started as a 1995 Dodge and now runs electric axles with a diesel…
Hyundai Motor Group has outlined its next phase of autonomous driving development, saying its AI‑powered Data Flywheel is now in full operation. The system creates a cycle of data collection, training, validation and deployment to accelerate learning and improve autonomous driving performance, the company said. At its Autonomous Driving Media Day in Korea, the Group detailed a dual‑track strategy that pairs NVIDIA‑based Level 2+ and Level 2++ production starting in 2028 with the development of its proprietary Atria AI system, targeted for Level 2++ production in 2029. The company said the approach allows rapid deployment while building long‑term technology independence.…
Mercedes-Benz has signed a definitive production agreement with British self-driving startup Wayve to build its “AI Driver” into future Mercedes vehicles, with integration starting within the next two years. It’s the first time Wayve’s end-to-end driving AI is going into a production car in the premium segment, and it deepens a relationship that already includes Mercedes investing in Wayve’s $1.5 billion Series D round earlier this year. What Mercedes is actually buying Wayve doesn’t build cars. It builds the software that drives them, using what it calls an “AV2.0” approach: an embodied-AI system that learns to drive from data instead…
Just a few days after Chevrolet revealed pricing and some key specs for the brand-new 2027 Silverado 1500, GMC is doing the same thing with its Sierra 1500. Though the two pickup truck siblings are very similar, they won’t be identical this time around. For starters, the starting price GMC just announced is significantly higher than Chevrolet’s. The GMC also comes up short in capability versus Silverado, though you might not notice the difference. 2027 Sierra Gets A Lot More Stuff 2027 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate parked in a showroomGMC If you’re shopping on price alone, the 2027 GMC Sierra…
Automotive McLaren is the latest automaker to freshen up its corporate identity, but unlike some recent logo redesigns, the British performance brand is looking backward as much as it is forward. The company has unveiled an evolved wordmark and updated visual identity that will be used across both McLaren Automotive and McLaren Racing. The familiar Speedmark remains part of the package, which is probably a smart move considering how closely that shape has become associated with McLaren’s road cars and motorsport efforts over the past three decades. The biggest inspiration for the new look comes from founder Bruce…
Toyota may be planning to combine two of its leading powertrain technologies in a quest to deliver vehicles that retain the benefits of an internal-combustion engine while also being friendlier to the environment. A patent application filed by the automaker earlier this year with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, uncovered by CarBuzz, shows the potential design for a hybrid vehicle that, instead of using a gas or diesel engine for its internal-combustion component, swaps in a hydrogen combustion engine. Such a vehicle could deliver the efficiency and short fueling times of a hybrid, but without the carbon emissions…

The updated Nissan N7 starts at 109,900 yuan for a limited time and adds LiDAR-equipped variants to enhance driver assistance. The refresh aims to revive sales after N7 retail sales fell to 928 units in August, down from more than 10,000 a year earlier. Dongfeng Nissan, Nissan’s joint venture in China, launched the updated N7 electric sedan with a limited-time starting price of 109,900 yuan ($16,290) and upgraded driver assistance, targeting China’s fiercely competitive family EV market. The sedan went on…
EssilorLuxottica, the company that Meta partnered with for its Ray-Ban smart glasses, announced a new version of its Nuance Audio glasses that are designed to double as discreet over-the-counter hearing aids. The new Nuance Audio Plus still manages to squeeze their FDA cleared hearing aid tech into temple arms that don’t look much thicker than what you’ll find on a standard pair of glasses.
