- The Voyah Dream 9 starts at 419,900 yuan ($62,250) in China and will enter overseas right-hand-drive markets in November.
- The MPV offers a CLTC combined range of 1,500 km for its plug-in hybrid variants and a range of 701 km for its battery electric versions.
Dongfeng Motor subsidiary Voyah (HKEX: 7489) officially launched the Dream 9 on Tuesday, using Huawei technology and both plug-in hybrid and battery electric options to expand its presence in China’s premium MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) market.
The Dream 9 starts at 419,900 yuan ($62,250), down 10,000 yuan from its starting price when pre-sales began on September 5. Prices top out at 529,900 yuan.
The flagship MPV comes in 3 trim levels — Ultra, Ultra+ and Lizun — each available with plug-in hybrid or battery electric power, for a total of 6 variants.
The plug-in hybrid variants cost 419,900 yuan, 459,900 yuan and 519,900 yuan, respectively. Each battery electric version costs 10,000 yuan more than its corresponding plug-in hybrid variant.
The Dream 9 launch expands Voyah’s premium lineup. Its MPV range also includes the Dream and Dream Shanhe.
Voyah previously said the Dream 9 received more than 30,000 refundable pre-orders within 48 hours of pre-sales opening, including more than 20,000 from existing owners adding or replacing a vehicle. Such orders indicate early buying interest rather than confirmed sales.
The Dream 9 measures 5,325 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width and 1,805 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,200 mm. It has 7 seats in a 2+2+3 layout.
All variants use an 800-volt platform. The plug-in hybrid versions feature a 65-kWh battery, offering a CLTC electric range of 340 kilometers and a combined range of 1,500 kilometers.
The plug-in hybrid versions pair a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with front and rear electric motors, delivering total system output of 560 kW (751 hp). They support 5C charging, with an official charging time of 12 minutes from 20% to 80%.
The battery electric versions feature a 120-kWh battery and a CLTC range of 701 kilometers. Their dual motors produce a combined 475 kW, and charging from 20% to 80% takes 20 minutes.
The Dream 9 features Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 5 driver assistance system and HarmonySpace 6 cockpit, making Huawei technology a key selling point in the premium market.
The vehicle has 37 sensors, including 1 main 896-channel LiDAR and 3 solid-state LiDARs, with driver assistance functions covering urban roads, highways and parking.
The Dream 9 also features Voyah’s Huju Premium chassis, with 3-chamber air suspension, dual-valve EDC dampers and rear-wheel steering of up to 10 degrees in either direction.
The cabin emphasizes rear-seat comfort, with second-row seats offering rotation to multiple angles, lateral adjustment, a zero-gravity mode and mechanical massage. It also features a 21.4-inch ceiling-mounted screen.
Voyah plans to launch the right-hand-drive Dream 9 overseas starting in November, expanding the flagship MPV’s reach beyond its home market.
Voyah’s revenue rose 42.4% year-on-year to 18.16 billion yuan in the first half of this year, while deliveries increased 35.9% to 76,264 vehicles.
However, its gross margin fell to 17.7% during the period, and it posted a net loss of 389 million yuan, compared with a profit of 460 million yuan a year earlier.
The Voyah Passion S has limited-time prices of 223,900 yuan ($33,000) to 273,900 yuan, undercutting the Xiaomi YU7.
