It took Aston Martin six years to develop the Valhalla from a prototype to production. Could another version have a speedier turnaround? It’s only been a year since Aston Martin finally delivered the first production Valhalla as a coupe with its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 plug-in hybrid powertrain delivering 1,064 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque.
If “industry sources” are correct, something new could drop as early as November, less than two months away as of this post going live. And it could be an open-air enthusiast’s dream.
A Valhalla Spider Version Could Be Ultra-Exclusive

Considering the gas engine in the Valhalla is an Aston Martin spec Mercedes-AMG M178 LS2 twin-turbocharged V8, a top-down experience should be a thriller for driver and passenger. TheSupercarBlog claims to have inside info on just such a beast, billing it as an exclusive ride, but only cites mysterious “industry sources” for the info. If accurate, the open-top version will arrive as the Valhalla Spider in November 2026 and produced in even smaller quantities than the hardtop – which Aston Martin is limiting to 999 units globally.
Exactly what form of convertible it will be, we don’t know. It could be a super lightweight cloth top that the driver opens and closes manually, but more likely, we suspect a retractable or removable hard roof, possibly motor-driven, adding a bit of weight to the hypercar. The best indicator of that is the Valkyrie’s open-top option.
Will It Be The Same Valhalla With Unlimited Headroom?

Given that the Valhalla uses a carbon fiber monocoque chassis that already has maximum stiffness with minimal weight built in, the structural additions needed to retain the stiffness should be minimal and not much of a weight penalty. As it stands, the coupe Valhalla weighs approximately 3,417 pounds. However, the doors will need a significant redesign, as they have part of the roof attached to them.
But even if there are some notable structural changes, one can only imagine the sound this makes with the high-revving V8 mounted just behind the cockpit. Hopefully, Aston Martin’s finances allow such a creation to reach production.

Bringing out a top-down or top-off version of a hypercar is pretty much the standard now, and this will only really matter if you have the money and sway with Aston Martin to swing one. Or, if like us, you just love to see a roofless hypercar. Or, if you’re Aston Martin and need to make sure your new hypercar customers have the option for an open-top experience.
Aston Martin is in the midst of a rebirth at the moment, and needs its new hypercars (the Valkyrie went into production in 2024) to do their job as halo cars drawing eyes to the brand. The hypercars are carrying a lot of weight in that regard at the moment as the Aston Martin Formula 1 team is still not reaching its potential and particularly struggling this season. Still, the current range of sports cars and SUVs is the best Aston has ever had.
