    • The order further expands RoboSense’s market share among Japanese joint-venture automakers in China, with its ADAS orders on hand exceeding nine million units.
    • In December 2025, RoboSense secured an order for more than one million LiDAR units from FAW Toyota.

Chinese LiDAR maker RoboSense (HKEX: 2498) has secured another massive order from a mainstream automaker, as the sensor becomes almost standard equipment on smart electric vehicles (EVs) in China.

RoboSense’s digital LiDAR has been selected for new factory-installed, mass-production models by FAW Toyota, with the order size exceeding 500,000 units, according to a statement released by the company on Wednesday.

This marks the latest progress in the partnership between RoboSense and FAW Toyota. In December 2025, the company secured a design win from FAW Toyota, a collaboration that brought in an order for more than one million LiDAR units at the time.

RoboSense is relying on the leading performance of its digital LiDAR to continuously drive the accelerated adoption of advanced smart driving, the company said.

Over the past few years, Japanese auto brands have launched an aggressive counteroffensive in China’s EV market. To enhance the competitiveness of their products, these joint-venture brands are increasingly adopting advanced sensors from local Chinese suppliers.

In December 2025, RoboSense announced an order for nearly one million LiDAR units from Dongfeng Nissan.

With the influx of new orders, RoboSense’s overall business scale is experiencing rapid expansion.

In the first quarter of 2026, RoboSense generated total revenue of 458.8 million yuan (about $67.8 million), a significant surge of 39.9% compared to the same period last year, according to its earnings report released last month.

Its first-quarter net loss narrowed by 36% year-on-year to 64 million yuan.

Although its robotics LiDAR shipments surged in the first quarter and surpassed its automotive business for the first time, the automotive market remains its cornerstone.

In the automotive sector, RoboSense’s ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) business has an order backlog exceeding 9 million units. This massive order reserve covers 177 design-win models from multiple automakers globally.

RoboSense expects its total LiDAR deliveries in 2026 to reach 2 million to 2.7 million units, a target that is two to three times its 2025 delivery volume.

To further reduce costs and improve profit margins, the company launched a proprietary, in-house developed chip architecture in April this year, which is expected to help it maintain its pricing advantage and technological lead in a fiercely competitive market.

RoboSense’s robotics LiDAR sales reached 185,500 units in the first quarter, accounting for more than half of its total shipments for the first time.
