Looking at the interior photo below, you might think this is a new Koenigsegg hypercar making its global debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. But you’d be in the wrong Scandinavian country. Instead of Sweden, the hypercar you’re looking at here comes from Denmark. This is the Zenvo Aurora Tur, and while you might have seen images of the car before, what you see here, and at Goodwood this weekend, is the final production design of the world’s most powerful V12 hypercar.

A year on from the magnificent V12 firing up for the first time at last year’s event, Zenvo is bringing full validation prototypes to one of the world’s most famous hill climbs, and using the occasion to show off the final product customers will be buying.

Zenvo Aurora Tur Engine: Tell Me More About That V12

Developed in partnership with MAHLE Powertrain, the Aurora Tur will be showing off its 6.6-liter quad-turbo V12 named Mjølner, the most powerful ever fitted to a road-going production car.

On its own, the V12 produces a mighty 1,250 horsepower (targeted) and 1,254 lb-ft of torque while revving out to 9,800 rpm. But there’s more to it than just a quartet of turbos. A trio of electric motors contribute an additional 600 hp, totaling 1,850 hp in all-wheel-drive Tur specification, as shown here.

    Zenvo Aurora Mjølner Engine Specifications

    Engine Configuration

    90-Degree Quad-Turbo V12

    Displacement

    6.6 liters

    Power

    1,250 hp

    Torque

    1,032 lb-ft

    Maximum Engine Speed

    9,800 rpm

    Fuel Type

    Gasoline/Flex-Fuel (Net-Carbon Synthetic Compatible)

    Lubrication

    Dry sump

With a targeted dry weight of 3,197 lbs, this should be good enough for a 2.3-second zero-to-60 sprint, while its slippery low-drag body enables it to reach 280 mph.

    Lightweight Agil Specification Still Incoming

A second, lightweight variant called the Agil drops the front motors, reducing total power to 1,450 to focus on handling over outright speed. Both models feature a seven-speed transmission, with different gearing to suit each car’s demeanor. While the primary focus of Zenvo’s Goodwood showcase will be the Tur, of which two validation prototypes will be shown, the automaker is also showcasing one Agil show car. Presumably, the final design of the Agil will be showcased at a later date.

Final Validation Now, Customer Deliveries Next

With this latest step forward, Zenvo is one step closer to delivering its new-era hypercar to customers. Validation prototypes are used for final road testing, homologation, and fine-tuning of various systems to ensure cars are ready for customer delivery. They’re also the last major hurdle for fit and finish testing, which is why the look you see here, inside and out, is a string gauge of what the production cars will feel like in terms of quality.

Not all of them are found in the engine. When you can go 280 mph, you need serious stopping power, too.

What we see with the final production design, showcased on the yellow and exposed carbon fiber VP5 is a mix of leather, textile, and exposed carbon inside and out. The carbon isn’t just bolt-on bodywork, either – some portions are the exposed monocoque, making the bodywork structural. The interior is particularly special, sporting large analog gauges, huge metal shift paddles, and tactile elements that wouldn’t look out of place in a Koenigsegg or Pagani. That’s exactly the sort of company Zenvo wants to keep with the Aurora family.

Only 100 units will be built, split evenly between Tur and Agil specification, with production on track for later this year — per the brand’s original projections when the car was first unveiled in 2023.

“Aurora is the car that sets the direction for Zenvo’s future,” says Jens Sverdrup, executive chairman of Zenvo Automotive.

“We have always described Aurora as an equilibrium of extremes. It brings together power, lightness, technical ambition, emotion, and accessibility in a way that feels true to our Scandinavian roots. To see Aurora come to life, just as our customers will see them next year, is a very special moment, and a chance for people to hear, see, and feel how far Aurora has come.”

CarBuzz Insight — Why It Matters:

This isn’t Zenvo’s first rodeo, but it might be the first time the hypercar maker gets taken seriously in the space. Previous efforts have been either comical or disastrous, with negative publicity stemming from the Zenvo ST1 catching fire on an episode of Top Gear, while the Zenvo TSR-S’s wild pivoting wing both looked comical and its efficiency was dubious.

But the Aurora feels different. Zenvo’s worked with experts in the powertrain field, taken its time to develop the car, and the final product now feels like a genuine hypercar contender that looks and feels like a piece of technical automotive jewelry. And by sticking to a timeline without delays, it’ll inspire confidence that this is a tightly run ship. Just a year ago, the first powertrain prototype was fired up live in front of the crowd at Goodwood, and a year later, the car is entering its final development phase. That’s real progress, and a sign Zenvo has elevated itself from wacky startup to global hypercar player.
