The revival of AC Cars continues to gain momentum, and now the legendary British automaker has unveiled one of its most ambitious creations yet. The all-new AC Cobra GT Coupe has officially broken cover in production form, bringing together classic Cobra heritage, modern engineering, and supercar-level performance in a striking fixed-roof package.

Introduced as a centerpiece of AC Cars’ 125th anniversary celebrations, the GT Coupe marks a significant milestone for the company. While the Cobra name has long been associated with open-top motoring and tire-smoking V8 power, this new model takes the iconic formula in a fresh direction. With its dramatic roofline, aggressive proportions, and inspiration drawn from the historic AC A98 Le Mans racer, the GT Coupe is designed to expand the brand’s appeal while staying true to its roots.

At first glance, the new coupe is unmistakably an AC Cobra. The familiar long hood, muscular fenders, and compact cabin remain intact, but the addition of a sculpted fixed roof and distinctive rear profile gives the car an entirely different personality. It looks more focused, more purposeful, and arguably more exotic than its GT Roadster counterpart. The design pays homage to AC’s racing heritage while embracing modern aerodynamic principles that enhance both style and performance.

Beneath the carbon fiber bodywork sits the same advanced architecture developed for the Cobra GT Roadster. Built around AC Cars’ proprietary extruded aluminum spaceframe chassis, the GT Coupe shares approximately 75 percent of its engineering with the open-top model. Extensive development and testing have refined the package, creating a grand tourer that balances everyday usability with serious performance credentials. Despite its larger dimensions compared to the original Cobra, the car maintains a near-perfect 50:50 weight distribution and tips the scales at around 1,600 kilograms.

Power comes from a naturally aspirated or supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine. Buyers seeking the ultimate experience can opt for the supercharged variant, which delivers an impressive 720 horsepower and 605 lb-ft of torque (820 Nm of torque). AC Cars estimates a 0-60 mph sprint in less than 3.5 seconds, putting the GT Coupe firmly into modern supercar territory. Those preferring a more traditional approach can select the naturally aspirated version, producing 456 PS and 555 Nm. Transmission choices include a six-speed manual gearbox for enthusiasts and a sophisticated ten-speed automatic with paddle shifters for those seeking maximum convenience and performance.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the GT Coupe is how heavily it draws inspiration from AC’s motorsport history. The car’s double-bubble roof design improves airflow while preserving cabin space, and its distinctive Kamm tail design reflects aerodynamic solutions used by race teams for decades. These features are direct nods to the legendary AC A98 coupe that competed at Le Mans in the 1960s, helping bridge the gap between the company’s past and future.

Inside, the GT Coupe embraces the grand touring philosophy. Rather than pursuing a stripped-down, track-focused experience, AC Cars has created a cabin designed for long-distance comfort. Drivers over six feet tall can be comfortably accommodated, while a blend of analog instrumentation and modern digital technology provides a contemporary driving environment. Premium leather finishes, bespoke customization options, climate control, touchscreen infotainment, and hand-crafted details further reinforce the car’s luxury credentials.

Production of the AC Cobra GT Coupe will remain extremely limited, ensuring exclusivity for buyers around the world. Pricing starts at approximately £234,300 plus taxes for the naturally aspirated model, while the supercharged version begins at around £256,300 plus taxes. Customer deliveries are expected to begin in 2028 following completion of initial GT Roadster production. For AC Cars, the GT Coupe represents far more than just another model. It is a statement of intent, showcasing how one of Britain’s oldest automotive brands plans to honor its legendary history while carving out a place in the modern high-performance automotive landscape.
