Hyundai Motor Group has outlined its next phase of autonomous driving development, saying its AI‑powered Data Flywheel is now in full operation. The system creates a cycle of data collection, training, validation and deployment to accelerate learning and improve autonomous driving performance, the company said.
At its Autonomous Driving Media Day in Korea, the Group detailed a dual‑track strategy that pairs NVIDIA‑based Level 2+ and Level 2++ production starting in 2028 with the development of its proprietary Atria AI system, targeted for Level 2++ production in 2029. The company said the approach allows rapid deployment while building long‑term technology independence.
Hyundai Motor Group is also expanding real‑world validation, planning a Level 4 pilot in Gwangju by year‑end to gather large‑scale data. Footage released by the company shows an Atria AI‑equipped test vehicle navigating Seoul traffic without driver intervention.
