Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) has launched 4 models in Bahrain, marking a new step for the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker in the Middle East’s Gulf market.
The X9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), the G9 and G6 SUVs (sport utility vehicles), and the P7+ sedan have officially gone on sale in Bahrain, the company said Thursday in a Weibo post.
Xpeng delivered the 200,000th G6 globally at the launch event in Bahrain. Chinese Ambassador to Bahrain Ni Ruchi and several Bahraini officials witnessed the milestone delivery.
The G6 is now sold in more than 50 countries and regions, with its footprint extending from Europe and Southeast Asia to North Africa, Latin America and the Middle East’s Gulf region, Xpeng said.
The G6 was first launched in China in June 2023 and has become one of Xpeng’s main sales contributors.
The model delivered 31,327 units in the first half of 2026, accounting for about 19% of Xpeng’s total deliveries, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

Xpeng launched the 2026 G6 in China in January. The model comes standard with the company’s in-house-developed Turing AI chip, while customers can pay to upgrade to a more advanced assisted-driving package.
The G6 is also a pioneer in Xpeng’s overseas localized production efforts. Last month, the first locally assembled G6 in Malaysia rolled off the production line at partner EP Manufacturing Bhd’s (EPMB) plant in Malacca.
Malaysia is Xpeng’s third localized assembly base globally, following Indonesia and Austria. The asset-light approach helps the company avoid large upfront capital expenditures.
Xpeng has significantly stepped up its international expansion over the past 2 years. Its long-term goal is for overseas markets to contribute half of its global sales within the next 10 years.
Xpeng management previously expected international operations to account for more than 20% of revenue starting in the second quarter of this year.
Google Maps in-vehicle Map Data Services will support Xpeng’s driver-assistance systems, clearing obstacles for the global roll-out of VLA 2.0.
