Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) is accelerating its push into mobility services, with its latest move being a partnership with a leading Chinese car rental platform.
The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker held a vehicle delivery ceremony in Beijing on Friday, formally handing over 1,300 vehicles to Car Inc, according to an announcement today.
Xpeng chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng and Car Inc chairman Yu Hongfei both attended, witnessing the signing and delivery.
The models delivered in this batch include Xpeng’s Mona M03 sedan, P7+ sedan and X9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle).
The Mona M03 is Xpeng’s lowest-priced model, with a starting price of 119,800 yuan ($17,650).
Car Inc has bought over 5,000 Xpeng vehicles to date, and plans to purchase at least 5,000 more within the next year, according to Xpeng’s statement.
The new vehicles will be deployed in major tourist cities, key transport hubs and priority rental outlets nationwide in China.
For Xpeng, the rental channel is a new way to let the public experience its intelligent driver-assist technology.
Car Inc said its expanded bet on Xpeng reflects the automaker’s leading edge in second-generation VLA (Vision-Language-Action) full-scenario intelligent driver assistance and smart cockpits.
As the rental platform with the top market share for years running, Car Inc is advancing an upgrade of its fleet toward new energy, intelligence and quality.
The move also underscores the rental industry’s demand for a smart transformation, as users increasingly value intelligent features when choosing vehicles.
Notably, Car Inc is not betting on a single automaker.
On May 9 this year, the platform signed a framework agreement with BYD (HKEX: 1211) to purchase 100,000 vehicles. The two will also install BYD’s latest flash charging stations at eligible rental outlets.
The delivery comes as Xpeng’s sales recover. The company delivered 40,126 vehicles in June, up 15.93% year-on-year, a monthly high so far in 2026.
The figure ended a five-month streak of year-on-year declines, driven mainly by the ramp-up of new models.
Xpeng’s latest growth highlight is the Mona series’ first SUV, the Mona L03. The vehicle made its China debut and opened pre-sales on July 2, with a pre-sales price starting at 143,800 yuan.
Xpeng positions it as “young people’s first smart and stylish SUV,” targeting younger consumers.
Xpeng Mona L03 pre-sales start at 143,800 yuan ($21,200), with both battery electric and extended-range powertrain options available.
