Xiaomi launched its SkyNomad SUV family in China today, a lineup of four extended-range models that starts at RMB 209,900, or about $31,275.
It’s Xiaomi’s first move into extended-range vehicles, and the entry price lands below China’s established EREV flagships from Li Auto and Huawei-backed AITO.
We covered the SkyNomad’s unveiling in July, so the vehicles themselves aren’t the story. What Xiaomi confirmed today is the part buyers were waiting on: official pricing and the final four-model lineup.
The pricing
Here’s the full lineup Xiaomi confirmed at its fall launch event:
- SkyNomad N70 Pro, a five-seat rear-drive SUV: RMB 209,900 (~$31,275)
- SkyNomad N70 Max, a five-seat all-wheel-drive SUV: RMB 239,900 (~$35,745)
- SkyNomad N90 Max, a seven-seat flagship: RMB 269,900 (~$40,215)
- SkyNomad N90 Max Studio, with a pop-up camping roof: RMB 299,900 (~$44,685)
That’s an aggressive opening bid. At the unveiling, Xiaomi said the range would start “as low as 200,000 yuan,” and the production N70 Pro came in right on top of that promise.
For context, the two cars this lineup is chasing, the Li Auto L9 and the AITO M9, both start above RMB 250,000. Xiaomi is putting a 4.96-meter, five-seat SUV on the road for the price of a loaded compact crossover.

What you actually get
The SkyNomad is an EREV, not a pure EV. Every model pairs a battery with a gasoline range extender that generates electricity but never drives the wheels. That’s the setup dominating China’s family-SUV market right now, and it’s a departure for Xiaomi, whose SU7 sedan and YU7 SUV are both battery-electric.
However, this SUV’s electric powertrain is fully useful as a pure EV. The base N70 Pro runs a 52 kWh LFP pack for 351 km (218 mi) of pure-electric CLTC range and 1,351 km (840 mi) combined. Step up to the N70 Max and you get a 76 kWh pack, dual-motor all-wheel drive, a 5.5-second 0-100 km/h time, 505 km (314 mi) of electric range, and 1,461 km (908 mi) combined. Xiaomi says a 20-80% charge takes as little as 18 minutes.
The seven-seat N90 Max stretches to 5,285 mm on a 3,080 mm wheelbase and posts the headline range figure: 464 km (288 mi) on electricity and 1,705 km (1,059 mi) combined. Xiaomi says that’s enough to drive Shanghai to Beijing, more than 1,000 km, without stopping.

All four ride on Xiaomi’s new Kunlun platform with a flat floor and long sliding rails, and the whole lineup comes standard with an NVIDIA Thor assisted-driving chip, LiDAR, and radar.
The camper version
The most interesting model is the N90 Max Studio at RMB 299,900 (~$44,685). It’s built around a factory-integrated electric pop-up roof that raises 100 mm and opens a two-level loft with headroom for someone up to 1.8 meters tall. The second row folds into a 1.87-meter bed in 30 seconds, the floor has heating with three temperature settings, and there’s a 30-inch projector screen inside. Xiaomi is selling it as a mobile studio and camper. Not your typical spec sheet.
Electrek’s Take
The price is again impressive from Xiaomi. IT has learned exactly one trick and keeps running it: take a segment that Chinese buyers already want, then land a well-built version well under the incumbents. It did it to Tesla with the YU7, which undercut the Model Y by $4,350, and now it’s doing it to Li Auto and AITO in the extended-range space.
There’s a gas engine on board, which wer aren’t exactly excited about, but there’s no doubt that this vehicle can be used on electric range only most of the time.
The frustrating part, as always, is that none of this comes here. Xiaomi says the SkyNomad is China-only for now. A seven-seat SUV with 288 miles of electric range and a $40,000 price tag would reset expectations in the US market, where a comparable three-row electric SUV runs $60,000 and up. Xiaomi has delivered over 800,000 cars and turned a profit faster than almost anyone in this industry.
