- Xiaomi showed the interior space of the Sky Nomad’s first model for the first time, with rotating front-row seats and an in-car “bar counter” that can be set up.
- The model opened for reservation inquiries today, and is the first vehicle in Xiaomi’s second product series after the SU7/YU7 series.
Xiaomi (HKEX: 1810) has released images of the interior space and a high-definition side profile of the first model in its Sky Nomad series, offering more details about this closely watched vehicle.
“Has the SUV reached the end of its evolution? No. The interior space of the Xiaomi Sky Nomad, revealed for the first time,” Xiaomi Sky Nomad wrote on its official Weibo account on Thursday.
Information shown by Xiaomi in animated form indicates that the SUV’s first-row seats can rotate, and a floor-standing small table can be set down between the front two rows, creating a “living room”-style layout.
The front-row center armrest can slide backward and, with a tabletop accessory inserted into the cup holder, can form a “bar counter.”
With all three rows of seats in use, the vehicle can still hold at least seven pieces of luggage, though Xiaomi Sky Nomad did not disclose the specific dimensions of the luggage.
Earlier today, Xiaomi also introduced the vehicle’s “convertible large space” through a “floor plan,” saying the second and third rows can be arranged in a variety of layouts.
According to the company, when parked the cabin can transform into a studio for one person, a café for two, a living room for three, or a playground for the whole family, hinting that the interior can accommodate a range of amenities such as a television, a game console, and a coffee table.
The Sky Nomad SUV opened for reservation inquiries on Thursday.
Xiaomi confirmed earlier today that the Sky Nomad is Xiaomi EV’s second product series after the SU7/YU7, rather than the standalone sub-brand rumored previously, positioned as a “smart convertible large-space SUV.”
Xiaomi founder, chairman and CEO Lei Jun published a lengthy post on Weibo today, saying the SU7/YU7 series is a “driver’s car,” while the Sky Nomad series, refined over three and a half years, aims to create a “living space.”
Unlike the dynamic curves of the SU7 and YU7, the side profile released this time shows a notably rugged and boxy design, with an all-new front fascia.
Lei said that to achieve the smart switching of space, Xiaomi began building an all-new platform architecture from scratch in early 2023 — the Xiaomi Kunlun architecture.
In SUV form, the vehicle’s flat floor and long-rail design give it the ability to intelligently switch its interior space.
Local media had previously reported that the first Sky Nomad model carries the internal code name Kunlun N3, a full-size extended-range SUV measuring more than 5.3 meters in length.
The extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) is expected to feature a large battery pack with a capacity of more than 70 kWh, offering an all-electric range of 400 to 500 kilometers.
The model’s key price range is expected to reach as low as 200,000 yuan ($29,420), putting it in direct competition with Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) and Huawei-backed Aito. Among the top 10 best-selling extended-range SUVs in China in 2025, seven came from these two brands.
A list of access changes released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on June 10 showed that Xiaomi EV has been approved to produce extended-range electric passenger vehicles at its Beijing plant. Before this, the company had produced only battery electric vehicle (BEV) models.
The new series is a key part of Xiaomi’s 2026 expansion plans. The company has set its full-year delivery target for 2026 at 550,000 units, up about 34% from roughly 410,000 units in 2025.
In the first half of this year, Xiaomi EV delivered a cumulative 185,055 vehicles, completing only about 34% of its annual target. To meet the target, its monthly deliveries in the second half need to reach around 60,000 units, far above current levels.
Xiaomi EV said Sky Nomad is its second product series after the SU7/YU7 series, positioned as an “intelligent, transformable large-space SUV.”
