    SKG PS700 Neck Massager

    MSRP $199.99

“Deep relief for desk workers who’ve already tried everything else.”

    Pros

    • Biomimetic kneading reaches deep neck muscles that vibration can’t
    • Near-infrared heat for deeper-feeling warmth
    • Quiet enough to use at a desk or on a call
    • 120-minute battery life with full app control
    • Light enough to toss in any bag

    Cons

    • Only one mechanical intensity setting
    • Built-in audio can be distracting

This post is brought to you in paid partnership with SKG

We’ve reviewed enough neck massagers to know that most of them are solving the wrong problem. They vibrate, apply surface heat, or rotate nodes across the trapezius, which feels good for about ten minutes and changes nothing by morning. The SKG PS700 Neck Massager is built around something most neck massagers ignore. The stiffness and heaviness you feel after a long day at a screen don’t start at the surface. It starts in the deep muscle layers that a vibrating collar or a rolling node simply can’t reach. That’s the problem this neck massager is designed to solve, since it’s designed to reach the deeper tension many desk workers feel after long hours at a screen.

    Zach Johnston

    How the massager works

The chronic neck tension that desk workers deal with originates in the semispinalis and splenius muscles, which sit beneath the trapezius and are effectively unreachable by standard vibration or rolling massage. The SKG PS700 Neck Massager targets them directly using biomimetic kneading heads: rotating silicone nodes with a hollow structure and 40° soft silicone tips that perform a lifting and pressing motion rather than a flat rolling one. The result mimics what a massage therapist does with their fingers, which feels more targeted than a surface-level massage, especially for the kind of tension that builds up after long desk days.

The motor is a 3025 brushless DC worm-gear unit running up to 3000 RPM. This means the kneading has real force without feeling aggressive, and the massager runs at 45 dB, quiet enough to wear in an open office without being a distraction. In our fan-heavy office, it blends right into the background noise.

It also features straps that attach to the arms, which are helpful for holding it in place for deeper pressure, or pulling the arms out a bit for less pressure on the base of the neck.

    The heat system

The PS700’s heat system is worth calling out separately because it isn’t the same infrared function you’ll find on a $40 Amazon bestseller. It combines 830nm near-infrared light and 640nm red light therapy with a resistive heat film that warms up in 3 seconds. The combination of near-infrared light, red light, and fast-warming heat is designed to deliver a deeper-feeling warmth than standard surface heat. It does warm quite quickly, and we think the lower heat setting is preferable for most folks; higher settings are almost distractingly hot.

    Battery, app, and audio

SKG pairs this massager with a companion app that controls massage mode, intensity, heat level, and music without touching the device. The battery delivers up to 120 minutes of runtime and charges fully in around 90 minutes, making it viable for office use without daily charging anxiety. There’s also a 15-minute auto shut-off, which is useful if you fall asleep wearing it. The app controls modes, heat, audio, and session settings, though the mechanical kneading pressure itself has one main intensity level.

At 1.5 lbs, the SKG PS700 Neck Massager is light enough to drop in a bag for work or travel. That portability is part of the pitch. This is a device you can use at a desk during lunch, on a long flight, or on the couch before bed. It doesn’t feel too heavy while wearing and is comfortable to use for most desk tasks, though the massage rollers at the base of the neck may get in the way if you’re using a second monitor.

The built-in audio is a nice touch. Access to 100+ curated soundscapes and guided meditation tracks through the SKG Health app gives you a full wind-down experience without reaching for your phone. Those who want their own playlist can connect via Bluetooth instead. It’s a thoughtful addition, though primarily useful to those who will use the massager at home.

    Is it worth it?

At $200 ($180 with coupon applied), the SKG PS700 Neck Massager costs roughly the same as a single 90-minute professional massage. For anyone dealing with chronic desk-related neck tension, that math resolves quickly. Of everything we’ve reviewed in this category, it’s the only device we’d recommend to someone with a real, recurring problem rather than occasional stiffness. If you’ve cycled through cheaper options and keep waking up with the same tension, this is the upgrade worth making.
