Luxury vehicle depreciation figures can often tempt people when they’re thinking about buying new. It may motivate those buyers to shop in the used car lot instead, especially when the vehicle in question has a particularly attractive interior. Take the 2022 Genesis GV70 luxury crossover, for example.
This is now four model-years old, but CarBuzz Marketplace suggests that its market average is around $31,000. And that’s mainstream compact SUV money for a vehicle that features sweeping oval forms, unusual color combinations, a huge display, and intricate trim adjustments. Still, as the GV70 did come with a complicated package structure, it’s important to review any candidate vehicle to assess exactly what’s on board.
Around $31,000 May Be The Price Of Admission

Genesis launched the GV70 in the United States as an all-new model for 2022. It came with a base price of $41,000 before its freight charge for the entry-level model. And as the CarBuzz Marketplace is currently showing an average value of around $31,000, that’s a shift of around $10,000 for the least expensive version. Another nationwide outlet currently estimates clean-condition dealer retail pricing at just under $29,000 for a 2022 GV70 2.5T with typical mileage and no selected options. Mileage, location, condition, accident history, and, crucially, the installed package could all affect individual pricing.
Genesis also sold a six-cylinder version, the 3.5T Sport, which CarBuzz Marketplace is showing at slightly under $35,000, with other outlets in the same ballpark. This model originally started at $53,100 before freight and the flagship 3.5T Sport Prestige was even more, at $62,500 before destination.
There’s clearly room to choose between the four-cylinder value play and a much more powerful and more elaborately trimmed six-pot version of the GV70. But there are other factors to consider, as after all, Genesis sold the 2.5T with Standard, Select, Advanced, and Sport Prestige packages. It also offered the 3.5T with its own Sport, Sport Advanced, and Sport Prestige hierarchy. And the package in question will make a significant difference to what people discover inside.
The Interior Was The Main Event From Day One

Genesis really wanted to impress with its new GV70 and decided to give this SUV an interior that had a recognizable visual identity. It didn’t just opt for a competent collection of leather, screens, and metallic trim, and instead, came up with a finished result that made a significant first impression.
For example, Genesis designers built the GV70’s dashboard around broad horizontal lines with a distinct oval form around the climate controls. They included similar elliptical shapes around the door handles and center console too, making the entire cabin look quite cohesive. They then added a wide 14.5-inch navigation display above the dashboard and designed the infotainment system so people could operate it through a rotary controller on the console.
The entry-level GV70 came with wireless device charging, fingerprint recognition, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and power adjustment for both front occupants. Traditionalists may be pleased to find an array of physical rollers and switches rather than a predictable and all-inclusive touchscreen menu.
Genesis also offered buyers a certain amount of individuality, offering solutions like wave patterns, backlit trim, layered edge illumination, aluminum with a haptic carbon pattern, and genuine carbon fiber. Shoppers could choose between different combinations rather than just making do with predictable black and beige solutions. Those pairings might combine Ocean Waves Blue and Pine Grove Green, Slate Grey and Velvet Burgundy, or Obsidian Black and Sevilla Red.
The GV70’s interior feels satisfyingly complete rather than a mishmash combination of different features. And Genesis certainly didn’t depend on screen size alone to create any visual impact, even as competitors sported larger panels or more elaborate digital instrument clusters. So, overall, the GV70 may feel far more compelling due to its highly distinctive cabin.
The 2.5T Advanced Is The Trim To Hunt Down

Even the most entry-level GV70 2.5T Standard trim delivers a fine sense of occasion, with good dashboard architecture, a wide screen display, and heated seats. However, the more sumptuous versions of the interior are to be found in higher trim versions. The Standard trim may still feature leatherette seating surfaces and a competent, if not overly impressive, nine-speaker audio system, but the Select package ups the ante when it comes to everyday comfort. This one offers ventilated front seats, a panoramic roof, aluminum trim, driver seat memory, a power-adjustable steering column, and a better 16-speaker Lexicon audio system.
But while both Standard and Select are nothing to sneeze at, the full luxury sweet spot is probably found aboard the 2.5T Advanced. Here, buyers get genuine leather seating, adjustable ambient lighting, illuminated Wave Line trim, and a heated steering wheel. They’ll also find rear sunshades, a surround view camera, a blind spot camera display, and remote smart parking assist.
There is a 2.5T Sport Prestige version, which changes the atmosphere to a degree. It has leather with mesh inserts, leatherette across the upper dashboard and doors and also features patterned aluminum trim. It has metal pedals, a sport appearance package, and an Ergo Motion driver’s seat. But the Advanced is probably the better choice because it delivers 90% of the ultra-luxe experience at a significantly lower price point.
When new, Genesis charged $4,000 for the Select package and a further $4,150 for the Advanced package. However, used listings will typically not make that kind of hierarchy obvious. Some dealers may simply advertise a four-cylinder model as a GV70 2.5T AWD and leave it up to buyers to identify the package or refer to the original documentation and build sheets for their information.
Meanwhile, if buyers are interested in the six-cylinder versions of the GV70, they may want to seek out the 3.5T Sport Advanced or Sport Prestige trim. The Advanced has quilted Nappa leather, layered edge illuminated trim, a microfiber suede headliner, and a Lexicon system. The Sport Prestige option adds carbon fiber trim, acoustic rear door glass, heated rear seats, and three-zone climate control.
On board, the GV70 offers 28.9 cubic feet of cargo capacity behind the second row and 56.9 cubic feet if you fold those seats down. Rear legroom is probably okay rather than being generous, at 37.2 inches.
The Four-Cylinder Delivers More Than A Pretty Cabin

The GV70 2.5T Advanced also features an impressive powertrain, and its turbo 2.5-liter inline-four generates 300 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque. Each US-market GV70 has AWD and an eight-speed automatic transmission, and independent tests suggested that it could get to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds. For comparison purposes, the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 solution raises output to 375 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque. Tests showed that this could get to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds, with official economy ratings of 19 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined.
As far as fuel economy is concerned, the four-cylinder has an official rating of 22 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined when fitted with 18- or 19-inch wheels. The Sport Prestige has 21-inch wheels and that combination may reduce the overall result to 19 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined.
Used Buyer Fine Print Can’t Be Ignored

Those looking at a 2022 GV70 should always be aware of its previous history, including up to five NHTSA recall entries. These dealt with matters like front seat belt pretensioners, a dodgy fuel pump that could lead to a loss of power, and, (as part of a 2026 campaign), a possible fuel leak where the fuel pipe meets the fuel rail. It’s important to check a vehicle’s specific VIN to confirm which campaigns apply to that vehicle and to ask if a previous owner had actually carried out any work.
On the safety front, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety named the 2022 GV70 a Top Safety Pick+. It also gave it good ratings in the driver and passenger-side small overlap tests, the original side test, the original moderate overlap test, roof strength, and head restraint evaluation.
Meanwhile, a used GV70 may come with some residual warranty coverage, but this does require careful reading. Originally, Genesis provided a 5-year, 60,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty as well as a 10-year, 100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty. However, the extended powertrain coverage applied only to the original owner and wouldn’t be transferable to a subsequent buyer. There may still be some coverage under the 5-year or 60,000-mile new vehicle warranty, but much will of course depend on the original in-service dates and mileage.
Also bear in mind that Genesis Certified Vehicles should receive the remainder of the 10-year or 100,000-mile powertrain warranty, which could be an important consideration for subsequent buyers.
The Interior Is Still The Reason To Buy One

A 2022 GV70 2.5T Standard will certainly deliver an unusually memorable cabin for its average price. But still, the smarter target is probably a 2.5T Advanced, with its genuine leather, ambient lighting, backlit trim, Lexicon audio, panoramic roof, and additional cameras. And all of that comes without having to upgrade to the V6 option and deal with that vehicle’s fuel consumption.
Buyers will need to look carefully at the specification sheet if the seller hasn’t disclosed the trim level, but even so, they’re likely to be pleased with what they find. They may learn that while four years of depreciation has clearly changed the price of the Genesis GV70, it hasn’t made its interior ordinary in any way, and if anything, the GV70 seems only to be improving with age instead.
