Genesis‘ new flagship SUV has no start button, coach doors with no B-pillar, and a roof airbag no other car in the world offers – and those aren’t even the most surprising things about it.

Yes, the GV90, has arrived. The successor of the Neolun concept car, the GV90 fits in the brand’s lineup just above its mid-size sibling, the GV80 and is a full-size luxury crossover equipped with a wide variety of luxury features that make it well suited to a range of different customers.

From business executives looking to host meetings to busy families on the move, there is nothing the GV90 can’t handle. Its state-of-the-art tech and comfort features give its occupants a high-end travel experience: every aspect, from sound to seating to ride quality, has been meticulously curated.

Here are 10 of the most interesting luxury features you will find in the GV90.

    Heated Floors

The top trim level in the GV90 lineup is the Neolun, which takes its name from the concept that preceded the model. In the Neolun we find the Executive Suite, a premium environment that gives passengers a higher level of luxury and comfort (more on that later).

One of the features in the Executive Suite is underfloor heating. The real wood veneer floor below the second row of seats features a built-in heating system, which helps keep the cabin cozy and warm even on the coldest days. This system is inspired by an underfloor heating method used in traditional Korean architecture called “ondol”.

    Pillarless Coach Doors

One of the most interesting features of the GV90 Neolun is called the Neolun Arch Gate: the name Genesis gives to the vehicle’s hidden B-pillar coach doors. The hidden pillar design creates ample room for occupants to enter and exit the vehicle, providing a sense of spaciousness and luxury.

Genesis pioneered a dual-motion hinge mechanism for the rear doors, which can open and close independently of the front doors. The mechanism slides the rear door outward before rotating it open, maximizing convenience for rear seat passengers. Safety is an important part of the equation as well: Genesis took steps to make sure the absence of a B-pillar did not compromise the vehicle’s structural integrity, with the addition of high-strength dual steel beams in its place. As a result, the GV90 Neolun achieves similar crash test results to vehicles with conventional B-pillars.

    Meeting Room, Anyone?

The GV90 Neolun offers its occupants the opportunity to turn the vehicle’s cabin into a mobile meeting space, thanks to swiveling front seats. Once the exclusive domain of futuristic concept cars, this seating layout is now entering the world of production models, and Genesis is not missing the opportunity to embrace this piece of innovation.

The seats rotate a full 180 degrees at the touch of a button, directly facing the rear passengers. This configuration is ideal for both social settings and business settings, giving passengers the ability to talk face-to-face while on the move.

Giant Screen That Lifts Up When Parked

The infotainment system is one of the crown jewels of the Genesis GV90. At its heart is a pop-up OLED Cinematic Display, which varies in dimensions based on whether the vehicle is parked or on the move. During driving, the screen measures 23.6 inches and integrates the instrument cluster with navigation and media functions.

When the GV90 is stationary, however, the user can press a display extension button located on the center fascia. This raises and expands the screen by 90 mm, turning it into a 24.6-inch display.

Genesis Eliminated the Start Button Entirely – Here’s What Replaced It

The way we start our cars has changed a lot over the course of automotive history: from the elaborate starting procedures required in early motor vehicles, to the traditional ignition key we are all familiar with, and more recently to simple start buttons.

However, Genesis is taking things a step further with the GV90: the vehicle is not equipped with a start button at all. It is instead started by pressing the brake pedal, which frees up space on the dashboard, reduces visual clutter, and simplifies the starting procedure even more.

A 3D Audio System With Tunable Acoustics

The screen featured in the GV90 may be impressive, but it’s only one of the car’s luxurious media-oriented features. The audio side of the equation is handled by a Bang & Olufsen Premier 3D sound system, whose 25 speakers create an ultra-high-end acoustic experience.

The set includes Acoustic Lens Technology (ALT) tweeters at each end of the dashboard, four headliner speakers, mid-range speakers, and subwoofers. The resulting 7.1.4-channel Dolby Atmos sound provides an immersive sound that envelops the cabin.

The system also comes with a “Virtual Venue” function sure to delight live music enthusiasts. The function replicates the acoustics of specific world-famous venues, including Wembley Stadium and the Boston Symphony Hall. The Beosonic audio tuning interface allows the user to personalize tone and acoustic atmosphere to their exact preferences.

    Multi-Chamber Air Suspension

Ride comfort is one of Genesis’ priorities for the GV90. The Multi-Chamber Air Suspension gives passengers a smooth, bump-free journey, maximizing stability and absorbing impact from the road. The system automatically adapts the ride height to the road conditions, thanks to the Mono-tube Dual Valve Electronic Control Suspension (ECS) absorbers.

The vehicle’s stability is further improved by another feature: the GV90 has rear-wheel steering with up to 5 degrees of angle, which combined with the work done by the high-tech suspension ensures optimal stability during highway driving.

An Executive Suite For Meetings On The Move

We’ve already mentioned the swiveling seats and underfloor heating, but they are not the only feature that makes the GV90 the ideal location for a business meeting on the move. Genesis has included a host of business-friendly features in the GV90 Neolun, as part of the Executive Suite configuration.

There is a Comfort Partition in place between the second row of seating and the trunk area, to shield the cabin’s occupants from noise and make conversation easier. The vehicle also has roll blinds for privacy, protecting VIP passengers from prying eyes. The Smart Vision Roof enables users to control its transparency across six distinct zones, to create the desired cabin ambiance.

    A Built-In Fridge

No social gathering or business meeting is complete without a few refreshments. That’s why Genesis has included a built-in fridge as part of the GV90’s many luxury features. It’s not the first automaker to do so; one of the earliest examples of a production model with a similar feature was the Toyota Van in the 1980s. However, Toyota’s fridge was only available for a few years due to cleaning and practicality issues.

We’re sure things will go very differently for the high-tech GV90, whose lucky occupants will be able to enjoy a cold beverage in its plush cabin. The vehicle also comes with integrated tables, making it even easier to consume drinks and snacks while on the move.

A World-First Airbag That Covers The Entire Glass Roof In A Rollover

    2027 Genesis GV90 InteriorGenesis

As expected of a modern luxury SUV, the GV90 is packed with advanced safety features, including high-tech airbags. There are a total of 12 airbags in the vehicle, along with a monitoring system that identifies occupant type and seating status. The system uses this data to optimize the way the airbags and seatbelts behave in a collision, ensuring maximum occupant safety. The system also alerts passengers regarding improper sitting posture or seatbelt usage.

The passenger seats get a dual-depth airbag that deploys in two stages, depending on how the passenger is sitting. There are also airbags incorporated in the seat cushions, which prevent passengers from sliding below the seatbelt in a crash.

One of the elements of the GV90’s safety package has been pioneered by Genesis. The vehicle comes with the world’s first Roof Airbag, designed to boost protection in the event of a severe rollover crash. The airbag covers the area of the entire glass roof, preventing occupants from being ejected from the vehicle and minimizing injuries from contact with the roof or broken glass.
