These are Stellantis’ hardest-working trucks that are upfitter-friendly, ready to be converted into utility trucks, flatbeds, ambulances, recreational vehicles, refrigerated box vans, and much more.

With blacked-out trim packages gaining popularity in conventional retail pickups with factory-installed beds, Stellantis figures the strategy might also find a receptive market with heavy-duty chassis cabs. That’s why we now have the 2027 Ram Chassis Cab Night Edition, a package that adds gloss black aluminum rims (sorry, no steelies), black badging, and black accents on the Sport Performance hood, while body-color paint is used for the grille surround, front bumper, and fender flares.

The Night Edition package is available on Laramie and Big Horn versions of the 2027 Ram 3500, 4500, and 5500 Chassis Regular Cab and Chassis Crew Cab. These are diesel- and gasoline-powered workhorses that can tow anywhere from 15,980 pounds in a 3500 with a Hemi V8 up to 34,540 pounds in a 5500 with the Cummins turbo diesel. The maximum payload of these beasts ranges from 6,830 pounds in the 3500 to 12,370 pounds in the 5500.
There are two powertrain options, starting with the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 rated at 375 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. For more grunt work, go for the 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel inline six-cylinder engine, churning out 360 horsepower and 800 pound-feet of thrust. Each engine is paired to a TorqueFlite HD eight-speed automatic transmission with electronic column shifter. The four available industry-standard frame lengths are measured in inches from the cab to the rear axle (CA): CA 60, CA 84, CA 108, and CA 120.

If your next Ram chassis cab needs to stand out from the crowd in model year 2027, you can order the Night Edition package with an MSRP of $2,195 on Big Horn models with the Level 1 or Level 2 equipment group. Or you can spend $1,695 for the Night Edition package on the Laramie trim.
While the blacked-out equipment also includes front and rear park sensors, grille billets, and nostrils, those matte-black running boards you see in the pictures are not included. Those are a stand-alone option, Ram says. Ram chassis cabs are built at the Saltillo Truck Assembly Plant in Coahuila, Mexico.

Night Editions are already available on Ram 1500 and Ram heavy-duty pickups, so it makes sense that Ram would offer something similar on the chassis cabs, trading chrome and brightwork for something uncommon in this workaday segment. With Ram chassis cabs starting around $50,000 (not including a destination charge of $2,795), tacking on a few grand more for Night Edition trim is relatively modest, especially when the Cummins diesel, alone, costs an extra $9,995. These aren’t personal trucks, so the question is: Are many business owners willing to spend more to make a style statement?
