    • The latest 10,000 ES8 deliveries took only about 1 month, putting the model on track to return to a monthly pace of 10,000 units.
    • Deliveries of the five-seat ES8 began on July 10, after the model’s June volume fell 21.85% from the previous month as consumers held off on purchases.

Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) will see cumulative deliveries of the all-new ES8 reach 130,000 this week, indicating that the popular SUV (sport utility vehicle) is regaining momentum following the addition of a five-seat version.

Yang Bo, the company’s head of user operations, previewed the upcoming milestone in a Weibo post on Monday, without providing further details.

Deliveries of the third-generation ES8 began in late September 2025, and cumulative deliveries reached 120,000 on June 22, after 275 days.

That means the latest 10,000 deliveries took only about 1 month, putting the model on track to return to a monthly pace of 10,000 units.

The large electric SUV delivered 8,969 units in June, down 21.85% from May, ending a streak of 7 consecutive months with deliveries exceeding 10,000 units.

Deutsche Bank analysts previously said some consumers had held off on purchases while waiting for the five-seat ES8, which was the main reason Nio’s overall June deliveries came in slightly below its guidance.

The five-seat ES8 was officially launched on July 9, with deliveries beginning the following day. Its starting price, including the battery pack, is 382,800 yuan ($56,520), 5.9% lower than that of the 3-row versions.

Under Nio’s BaaS (battery as a service) battery rental program, the five-seat ES8 starts at 274,800 yuan.

With the addition of the five-seat version, the ES8 lineup now offers a complete range of five-, six- and seven-seat configurations. Together with the ES9 executive flagship, which was launched in May with a starting price of 498,000 yuan, Nio has built a product portfolio covering the premium large-SUV market.

The third-generation ES8 is a high-margin model and a key contributor to Nio’s recent financial turnaround. Driven by its flagship models, the Nio main brand’s average transaction price reached 443,000 yuan in June.

Deutsche Bank expects Nio to achieve non-GAAP break-even in the second quarter, supported by the strong contribution from high-margin models.

Cost pressures, however, are emerging. Nio founder, chairman and CEO William Li said earlier this month that rising raw-material prices had increased the cost of each ES8 by nearly 20,000 yuan, though the increase remained manageable for the company in the near term.

Li previously said the five-seat version would help the ES8 remain the enduring “king” of the large-SUV market.

Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province in central China, is a major industrial and commercial hub along the Yangtze River.
