- MG 07 has secured more than 42,000 locked-in orders since its August 21 launch, with promotional prices starting at 105,900 yuan ($15,630).
- MG4 cumulative deliveries reached 150,000 in its first year, as MG said its NEV lineup is taking shape.
SAIC Motor’s (SSE: 600104) MG brand said on Thursday that locked-in orders for its MG 07 sedan exceeded 42,000 in the first 20 days after its launch in China.
The tally covers August 21 through September 10, implying about 11,000 additional locked-in orders over the subsequent 9 days after 31,000 in the first 11 days.
The MG 07 carries promotional prices of 105,900 yuan ($15,630) to 156,900 yuan, compared with an official starting price of 108,900 yuan. The offer runs through September 30.
The sedan was launched on August 21, the opening day of the Chengdu Auto Show. Orders topped 10,000 within 1 minute and 57 seconds of firm orders opening that evening, beating the MG4’s previous record of 39 minutes and 37 seconds.
MG brand general manager Chen Cui said at the time that pre-orders reached 45,000 on launch day and rose to 59,000 the following day.
The order mix exceeded the company’s expectations, with variants offering more than 800 kilometers of CLTC range accounting for over 45%.
The MG 07 is available in 7 battery-electric and plug-in hybrid variants. The top-spec battery-electric version uses an 800-volt platform and a 91-kWh CATL (HKEX: 3750) battery, offering a CLTC range of 845 kilometers and supporting 5C fast charging.
The plug-in hybrid version offers a CLTC electric range of 245 kilometers and a combined range of 1,745 kilometers.
The MG 07 is the brand’s first model equipped with LiDAR and the first to feature Momenta’s (HKEX: 6880) R7 world-model-based driver-assistance system. It also comes with an Xheart X7 chip designed for large AI models.
The cabin features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip, a 15.6-inch 2.5K central touchscreen, a 21-speaker 7.1.4-channel audio system and a zero-gravity front passenger seat.
MG has expanded its active sales outlets in China from fewer than 200 to nearly 500 over the past year, while adding about 100 pop-up stores.
Chen previously said MG decided to ask CATL to add 2 production lines in the first week after MG 07 pre-sales opened, before a large volume of pre-orders had materialized.
The MG 07’s strong start builds on the MG4’s performance. The hatchback reached cumulative deliveries of 150,000 on its first launch anniversary, with monthly sales exceeding 10,000 in 11 months, MG said earlier this week.
MG4 series sales topped 17,000 in August. Promotional prices start at 65,800 yuan for the 2026 MG4 and 92,800 yuan for the MG 4X SUV.
MG said the MG 07 will also enter overseas markets. The brand operates in more than 100 countries and regions, with cumulative overseas sales exceeding 7 million vehicles.
The MG 07 is available with battery-electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains, with the top BEV version offering a CLTC range of 845 km and 5C fast charging.
