    Automotive

Marc Philipp Gemballa has taken another swing at reinventing the Porsche 911 Turbo S, and this time the result is aimed squarely at the pavement. Called the Marsien GT, the company’s latest creation follows the rally-inspired Marsien with a much more road-focused personality, while retaining a strong visual connection to the legendary Porsche 959. Underneath the extensive carbon-fiber transformation is a 992.1-generation Porsche 911 Turbo S, but there is little about the finished car that looks ordinary. With 830 horsepower, active aerodynamics and production limited to just 30 examples, the Marsien GT lands somewhere between a heavily reimagined 911 and a boutique hypercar.

The 959 influence is impossible to miss, although the Marsien GT avoids looking like a simple retro remake. Nearly the entire body is formed from carbon fiber, with only the doors and roof shared with the earlier Marsien design. A roof-mounted scoop feeds the intercooler, while active louvers on the front fenders and an active rear wing give the aerodynamic package a functional purpose. Even the fuel filler has been relocated to the center of the hood, adding another unusual detail to a body that blends familiar Porsche proportions with something considerably more exotic.

There is serious engineering underneath all that carbon fiber, too. Unlike the original Marsien, which was developed to cope with loose surfaces and off-road driving, the GT has been configured specifically for high-speed road use. Its standard ride height sits just under four inches from the pavement, and the suspension uses a bespoke unequal-length control-arm design paired with electronically controlled dampers capable of continuously adjusting compression and rebound. The result should give the Marsien GT a much sharper character than its high-riding sibling while taking advantage of the already formidable capabilities of the 911 Turbo S platform.

Power comes from a RUF-tuned twin-turbocharged flat-six producing 830 horsepower and 603 lb-ft of torque. Marc Philipp Gemballa claims the Marsien GT can sprint from zero to 60 mph in 2.4 seconds and continue to a top speed of 205 mph when fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Somehow, even that is apparently not enough. A more powerful version producing over 900 horsepower is already under development for customers who consider an 830-horsepower Porsche-based machine a little too restrained.

Exclusivity is very much part of the package. Only 30 Marsien GTs will be produced, compared with 40 examples of the original Marsien, bringing total production across the program to just 70 cars. Pricing for the conversion starts at approximately $888,660 based on current exchange rates, and that figure does not include the required Porsche 911 Turbo S donor car or additional personalization options. Add everything together and this is easily a seven-figure proposition, but the Marsien GT was never intended to compete with an ordinary 911. It is aimed at collectors who want the speed and usability of a modern Turbo S wrapped in something that channels one of Porsche’s most celebrated shapes without simply recreating the past.
