Karma Automotive is entering a new chapter, and the 2027 Gyesera Grand Coupe is the car tasked with setting the tone. Arriving at U.S. dealerships in December with a starting price of $139,995, the four-seat grand tourer introduces the latest generation of Karma’s extended-range electric technology while keeping the dramatic proportions and low-volume exclusivity that have long separated the brand from the mainstream luxury crowd. Customers can already configure and pre-specify the Gyesera online, giving Karma a head start as it prepares to replace the familiar Revero with something considerably more ambitious.
Underneath the sculpted bodywork is a high-strength aluminum space frame paired with extensive carbon fiber-reinforced composite exterior panels. More important is what powers it. Karma’s latest Hybrid EREV system produces 566 horsepower and 546 lb-ft of torque, enough to send the Gyesera from zero to 60 mph in just under 3.7 seconds. Rather than relying solely on a battery for propulsion and range, the extended-range setup is intended to deliver the immediate response associated with electrification while taking some of the charging anxiety out of long-distance grand touring. For a car positioned as a luxurious four-passenger GT, that combination makes quite a bit of sense.
Karma is giving the Gyesera a suitably flashy introduction during Monterey Car Week and the 75th Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. A one-off PB75 version has been finished in Electrum Gold with Stellar Red stripes across the hood and lower front doors, complemented by 22-inch Light Speed wheels finished in Champagne and Galaxy Black. Red brake calipers add another splash of color. The cabin continues the theme with Reserve Red and Black Bridge of Weir leather, Charcoal Alcantara and Platinum-colored accents. After appearances around Monterey, the special Gyesera is scheduled to reach the Pebble Beach Concept Lawn on August 16.
The bigger story, however, is that Karma is not treating the Gyesera as a one-off reset. The company is building an entire new-generation lineup around its Hybrid EREV strategy. Next in line is the 2028 Amaris GT, Karma’s first production two-door GT and a car expected to use a more powerful evolution of the Gyesera’s range-extending powertrain. The Amaris is currently targeted to arrive in the fourth quarter of 2027, with pricing to be announced closer to production. For Karma, it looks like the goal is to create a family of cars that share a recognizable design and technology philosophy rather than simply replacing one model at a time.
Things become considerably wilder with the 2029 Kaveya Super Coupe. Karma says the fully electric flagship will produce more than 1,000 horsepower, feature butterfly doors and borrow visual inspiration from stealth aircraft. Pricing is expected to start around $400,000, with the Kaveya scheduled to arrive in the first quarter of 2028. Even more interesting is the battery technology that could be underneath it. Karma is working with Factorial Energy to integrate FEST solid-state battery technology, which is being developed to improve energy density, driving range and efficiency compared with conventional lithium-ion batteries. If the companies can bring that technology into a production passenger vehicle as planned, the Kaveya could become important for reasons extending far beyond its four-figure horsepower output.
Taken together, the Gyesera, Amaris and Kaveya show a Karma Automotive that is trying to move well beyond the identity it inherited from the Revero era. The Gyesera is arguably the most important of the three because it gets there first, and at $139,995 it has to convince luxury buyers that a small California automaker deserves to be considered alongside far more established names. With 566 horsepower, distinctive styling and an extended-range powertrain that splits the difference between a traditional plug-in hybrid and a full EV, the Gyesera certainly will not be short on talking points. Now Karma has to prove that its striking new grand tourer is just as convincing from behind the wheel.
